Maybe you would like to contact Behringer to mass produce your baby.
Please don't.

If you ever choose to share your design in any way or form, you'll be instantly one of the great heroes of the synth DIY field. Except if you share it with behringer first of course.

Dayum! If this isn't enough to give you "Instant OG" status here I don't know what is. I'd love to watch a video chronicling this project.
Also, welcome to Muffs!

No problem at all sharing every schematics, PCB layouts, CAD drawings, annotaded original schematics with corrections, instructions, etc, etc, etc! Just want first to make sure there are no more corrections to be done, a couple days ago I found the Osc 3 Offset calibration was tied to the wrong side of a resistor... and the voice card was supposed to be bug free. Duh.

Wow, pretty amazing, good job!

Were you able to implement Midi like in the Plus version? Would be awesome to (attempt) to build this as a desktop model without the keyboard.

No need to actually calculate, but any idea of what you spent on parts and pcb production?

No MIDI yet, I actually took a look at the schematics for the Plus update and decided not to build that thing.
Problem with a desktop version is the front panel, compressing all those buttons, knobs, LEDs, etc, would be a true nightmare. Unless a new firmware is written that allows external control of parameters via software but I have no Assembly programming superpowers.

It is tricky to figure a cost for this prototype. Some things are easy to calculate, such as the CEM ICs. PCBs are always produced in batches of 5 units, so the cost for the PCBs should take this in consideration. Also, a few boards had to be revised, corrected and reordered, so this is more a R&D cost than an actual manufacturing cost. Some of the components I already had at home, and the vast majority of parts were ordered at higher quantities than needed so I am keeping those for future designs, such as modular or other clones. I have Excel components lists for most boards, should not be too hard to populate those with pricing and get an estimate.

Really amazing work Luismarka, and welcome!

This is a substantial build and I can't wait to see how things progress.

Cheers and good fortune!

Hey guys!
Just received the pitch and mod wheels. As I could not find those anywhere, I just made a CAD drawing with approximate dimensions and ordered it laser cut in acrylic at a nearby company. Literally walking distance from here.
Price? $ 5.40 each. It was expensive because it is a small batch. For >100 pieces, it would drop to just under $1.00! Not bad, eh!
I still have to drill a side half-hole to fit the centering lock for the pitch bend, attach M2.5 bolts to the holes to serve as stops for the pitch/mod wheels, and drill a hole to accomodate an M3 bolt to lock the potentiometer axis in place. The bummer is: my press drill was sent for repair, it will be another week or so until I can install those. Sad.

As those are in acrylic, I am totally placing LEDs underneath the wheels!

Cheers!

Just waiting to be able to bring it to the studio, don't want to ruin the sound by recording the audio in a cell phone from speakers...

And tomorrow I will receive the chassis and front plate after zinc coating, curious to see what it will look like! Will check if the finish is OK and then have it painted in aluminum so it will look more like the original.

Just ordered the front panel adhesives in Lexan, it was a pretty good price: some $65 for the whole set, not too bad! Again, this is the price for only one set. If I ordered a large quantity, it would drop to 1/3 of that.

Cheers!

@Luismarka
Here's a DXF of the actual moog serrated style modwheel size and shape from a person who made clones from an original for their Crowminius project.
Also a couple pictures showing how he did the split and shaft lock.

Much simpler to just make a short slot in each half. Fit a square nut in the slot and you don't need a drill press.

DXF is sent as TXT because MW does not allow attached DXF. Change filename to .dxf to see and use normally.

Awesome!! Thanks a lot!
I thought it would be easy to find those wheels, but I was wrong. Had no choice other than have them made locally!

The original plus midi has terrible latency and other jittered sloppiness, no need to clone it... start new! Anyway this is awesome. Would love to hear sounds!!

FIY, some folks would give limbs for the moog wheels. Out of my model D clone (on the back burner now) that was the most difficult part to find. When folks contact me asking about making their own clone I tell them to start with the wheels. I usually don't hear back from them after that.

Nice. I haven't played a MM before, but from the pics it looks like it is like the MiniMoog in that it may have more WOODWORK than sheetmetal work on the chassis! Like fine pieces of furniture, those old Moogs!
