audio damage grainshift in use

sorry... just felt these modules are going to need their own pages as that main thread is getting a bit unwieldy (as is the mutable thread!!!)

anyway, got my grainshift today (and the mini pinball game. high score: 0, so far)

i originally jumped with excitement that this would be a granular/chopper module, but as chris pointed out a few days ago it's more of a pitch shifter with grains than a chopper..

anyway.. got mine today! and in my limited use so far (DPO>grainshift) i'd describe it as a real-time cloud generator processor. it's quite easy to (sort of) mimic the sound of the e340, by turning any oscillator signal into cloudy, chorusy, chaotic streams. kind of cool, i think.

i haven't yet tried it on sample based or live input/acoustic material yet, but i will.. nor have i tried CV'ing it very much.

Sounds interesting. So, it won't do stuttery glitchy granular sounds then? For instance, if you leave the pitch relatively the same, what will the size knob do?

Would be great if you could run some real world samples through it, Taylor. Some drum loops, some field recordings ... whatever.

And you know, turn the knobs slowly. Can't tell what is going on by chaining 3 of them together and sending a CV blitzkrieg into them!

Here's a little droney demo..

DPO starts off dry, then I mix a wet signal of Grainshift running into the Dub Jr.
The dry signal then gets removed completely.

Grainshift at start is:
Pitch - Center
Chaos - 0 (Full CCW)
Size - 0 (Full CCW)

Dub Jr start off with Mix at 0 and doesn't come in until after the 1:00 mark.

This is all just hand tweaking of the knobs.. did not touch anything on the DPO.

At the very end I mix the dry signal back in and the wet out, just for reference.

I can do another one in a bit with no delay.
No reverb was used though, it was just DPO into the other two modules.

They make for a nice tandem though I must say.
