They all happen to be filters

WMD C4RBN
FSS TG3 Gristleizer
Erica Synths Polivoks V3

Just looking for "the one" for my portable system, swapping back and forth. Really wish I'd jumped on a Vult Freak last year.

Probably selling my Filter 8. Not sure what to replace it with, there are too many interesting options: the new toppobrillo multifilter, Jove/860, Morpheus, i047, Klangbau Twin Peak and so on.

Joranalogue filter 8...this thing is deep and powerful
Soundmachines LS1 Lightstrip...I like it, it is just so easy
divkid OCHD...Well, everyone else has it and it has been so hard to get.
But, too soon to have an opinion.
Hi, Ive had the filter 8 for a couple of months, let me get your opinion on something. Its got a lot of features, if you play it as an oscillator it sounds stunningly beautiful. But as a basic low pass filter, it is.. well.. its a bit shit. The cutoff is lifeless and seems more like a volume control and the resonance knob does pretty much nothing until it's in the resonance zone. I've tested it with a Dixie 2+, an Instruo CS-L, Mother 32 and Plaits, always the same. To the point I've wondered if there's something wrong with mine. Am I missing something, is there some nuance of modular I'm being hit by here relating to voltages or some such, or is Filter 8 just not my 'jam' and being new-ish I'm not recognising that.
Sorry Stu
I followed the link to your post that was emailed to me, but somehow never saw it.
To answer, I have been using it as an oscillator and not that much as a filter.
I agree that it is hard to get any kind of stunning effects using it as a filter.
I basically want to know the answer to this also.
It is def not a Wasp filter.

BTW, I just love the VC resonance.
Especially when using it as a sound source.
Looking forward to more replies here.
.
Will everyone please stop posting here.
My GAS is getting bad

No worries man. Thanks. I put it in LFO mode for the first time last night and it was doing lovely things to the FM on my oscillator. I'm growing to love it the more I explore it! It is funny that a filter module would excel in other modes but as a filter be a bit, meh. I'm 100% glad I bought it though.

I bought a bunch of Qu-Bit modules lately.

Nano Rand - Random/Sample and Hold/Gate out/Noise in a small package. Havent used the Sample and Hold much on it, but the random CV and the Random gate out have been fun.

Bloom - 32 step Fractal Sequencer. This one is a lot of fun and has become the backbone of my melodies.

Cascade - Ratcheting Envelope Generator with VCA. This thing gets crazy with some CV control over the repeats. Spices up the rhythmic bits of my melodies.

Definitely happy with all of them. They all feel super solid except for the Nano Rand knob isn't as solid as all the others.

Yeah it'll be sweet to get perfectly timed looped recordings of my modular with instant playback and multiple voices... That sounds more hawt the more I say it... I was trying to use the mpc one for this and it wasn't integrated enough to the rack for me to gel with it. Also it's fiddly.

The usta looks like a meditation device. I imagine I'll spend a lot of time hovering over it listening.

You will spend a lot of time hovering over it trying to read the small screen. The module is gorgeous, and highly functional, but so far it has not induced meditation levels of calmness in me. Perhaps that will come.

Traded out my WMD Kraken and Crucible for a Hexinverter Mutant Snare and Mutant BD. The WMDs were really cool, actually, but not quite the right fit for me, and the Hexinverter ones match up with my Mindphaser nicely. Haven't played with 'em yet, so no opinion presently -- still waiting on for the BD to show up before I dive in.

Also bought a Rings, forget if it it was on MW or elsewhere -- don't have it yet, but I used to have one, and kind of regretted passing it on. Will be nice to have one again.

No, I got a near-mint one off of Reverb that was actually only a few hundred over retail (as opposed to ~50% over retail). I had been hunting for one every day, several times a day, for months.

I figured I could sell it at cost if Orthogonal Devices starts up production again, and I would just buy a new one. But now I think I might just keep the one I bought.

My newest last three are (I think):

Recovery Effects - Cutting Room Floor
EMW - Fixed Filter Bank
Behringer - ARP 1047 VCF/Resonator

CRF - love and will use it most likely forever -small space, small price and unique sound.
EMW FFB - is not a true FFB, but for the money I am willing to experiment for a year or so.
BARP 1047 - keeper. Space taker, but sounds way better than I thought it could. Price is excellent. The 1006 Filter/Amp is also mind blowing for the price point.
I have a ridiculous and somewhat problematic addiction to filters. Currently have 9 or 10 in my 9U system and I really want the 1047 and 1006, or at least I want to try both.

Question about the EMW FFB, how is it not a true fixed filter bank? I was thinking about pulling the trigger on it at some point. Oh dear, filter addiction :/

More arrivals.

- Patching Panda Punch V3: First impressions of this one are strongly positive. Been wanting an audio-through percussive EG/VCA for a while now, but was never convinced I really needed one. But I can already see a lot of ways this could be super handy for me. It's also attractive and makes the most of its HP space. Only thing I could nitpick would be the somewhat awkward positioning of the in jacks between the main knobs, but other than that it's really cool. The response times/shapes are pretty interesting and it's really nice and snappy.

- Xaoc Samara II: Got this in a trade, no regrets so far. I was worried it'd be a little boring with too much overlap with my other utilities, but the thing is kind of ingenious, it combines a lot of useful functionality in a very well-thought out way. Definitely one you gotta take some time reading through the manual on, but so far I'm really impressed with it.

- Erica Synths Pico Quant: Only fiddled with it a tiny bit, seems fine; I like that it has a Glide parameter.
