Acidbabe ... good question!

But I'm on the list for when they do eventually materialise. My current build really depends on the density of a couple of these mixers, as I have several sound sources in a small space... mostly stereo capable. Currently using a hodge-podge of 2hp mixers and Doepfer modules to just get some sounds together... so the 4x Stereo Mix (x2) will solve a lot of issues.

My plan is to complete my plain vanilla Make Noise Shared System with this baby and keep it a separate instrument.

What a pity that there is no post Brexit EU-Dealer for this as I stopped ordering in the UK completetly.

Ouch :goo:

I was hoping to get mine sooner. Or does Elevator Sound receive another batch these days?

Signal sounds have some silver ones. I’ve got one of each now. Very handy.

Hi Orbita - I have ordered one from Signal Sounds (despite me being in Portugal) - so we will see how that goes. I'm keeping my second order in place with Schneider's though, as I know they are superfast delivery for me here.

The Brexit thing is a pain :( Lots of things I used to order from the UK are now unobtanium (Gardening Seeds, Amazon UK, UK Foods etc etc). I now use Amazon.de for most online purchases. Fortunately for music kit I love Schneider's and Thomann.

So, I'm really hoping that Signal Sounds come through on this. I will feedback, as it may be of interest to EU Wigglers.

Update.... the Happy Nerding 4x Stero Mix has left Signal Sounds.... and the nightmare begins: With FedEx ... mail from them wanting all sorts of details (completed) - list of fees including EU VAT and Extra Handling Fees, plus surcharges for late payment of said fees... cash payment of overcharges on delivery... christ on a stick. DONT DO IT.

How is the UK actually able to export any frecking thing under this?

I am going ahead and will report the final bill for the £93 (+vat) module. Gulp.

I ordered different things from Elevator. But haven't had such issues, not at all. But they use DPD.

Regarding the quality: it uses SSI vca chips, so the measurements figures can not be the same as with potentiometer-opam design, but anyway XX times better than a common 13700 VCA has. Plus it has a noticeably less variation between L and R channels volume compared to stereo potentiometers’ designs.
I'm about to buy a small 3-4ch stereo mixer, and the 4x from HN is probably my favorite. Sound quality is very important for me, but could someone maybe translate the lines above for a non-techie like me? How does it compare to products like STMix or Doepfer or Mixup or 6Mix, for example?

I have no idea what Igorrr is talking about, but he always seems so on top of everything, it’d be surprising if quality wise it wouldn’t be any better than the other solutions.

I got mine to replace my two DIY STMix, which I think you can also pimp up with better opamps (which I didn’t). Quality wise, I could not hear any difference, but I didn’t do any direct comparisons, and both would use the same output module anyway.

I think the problem with a standard, non “character” type of mixer is that it’s difficult to notice the quality, since it doesn’t try to make the source sound different.

This said I’ve been really happy with my 4xStereo Mix so far. It’s a bit of a tighter package compared to my StMix, but the pots feel good and are easy to operate from one side if needed. I do get a bit confused sometime about which knob does what, but that’s mostly because the patching can be quite dense around it.
Sound wise, it feels pretty solid, with decent output and no noise leaking through even if the voices aren’t muted.

OK - I promised feedback on getting the Happy Nerding mixer from Signal Sounds in the UK.

First off - Signal Sounds are brilliant.

Now the Brexit stuff for when ordering modules from the UK into the EU...

I was charged VAT at 23% which is expected, no problem. However - despite paying FedEx their shipping in the UK, this is then added to the value of the module, so you pay VAT at 23% on the goods added to the shipping cost... it goes on ... Then you have to pay a 'storage fee' on the item ... which was 10 Euros. Now, since this module arrived as if beamed in by Scotty from Star Trek, I don't really understand why a 'storage fee' is applicable. We are not finished yet :) ......

Next up is the paperwork handling fee. This comes in at 12.50 Euros. Interesting, since Signal Sounds did all the export paperwork, and I completed all the import paperwork at this end - so basically you are paying 12.50 Euros for a couple of emails and a printout that comes with the delivery; a print out of the very details the supplier and myself gave them.

Then you have to pay VAT at 23% on the storage and paperwork / handling charge, so that's another 5.18 Euros.

So, the total extra charges came to 64.56 Euros.

LOL

Not bad eh? I bet they made more than Igorr sold the units for in the first place. Sad.

However, on an upbeat, I now have my mixer, and it was really needed to complete the rack.

Igorr - you rock. Nice work. I don't know how you put up with all the export fees from your workshop in the first place, never mind the subsequent feed fest that goes on afterwards.

I emailed Jason at Signal Sounds to thank them on their superb service... really they are great. But after that... hells bells.

Yeah just had a similar 'pleasure' when ordering Dnipro Dot directly from Ukraine. VAT is indeed calculated off the price+shipping cost and you always pay shipping company for handling custom duty/VAT for you, so that's all correct. You shouldn't have been charged with storage fee though, if you provided all the info they asked for within 2 working days. Maybe it was just custom duty since you didn't mention it.
Anyway I'm not buying any modules from outside EU anytime soon. Just gonna wait untill this mixer arrives at Schneiders.

Mine arrived today... snagged 3 of them :sb:

If you cannot wait any longer, I'll be willing to let them go for only 499.- USD each, including shipping

Does this have any amplification per channel? Like what you have on 2xSam or Dual xFade with the jumpers?

Is there a problem with the doc on the Sample&Hold or am I missing something?

Edit: I’ve found the video!

Definitely not what I was expecting. It seems that the value sampled is affecting the pitch of a generated waveform, instead of coming out straight as it is.

Completely new to all this so apologies in advance for anything stupid

I'm considering making a little eurorack utility box and this looks like a really nice space saver over the desktop mixer I have at the moment, just wondering what'd be the best way to connect it up to a PC (I've got a Steinberg UR22C) or how other people are using it
Google's not been much help but I suspect that's down to me not really knowing what to look for

I'd guess using two 1/8" to 1/4" cables for L, R? And does balanced/unbalanced matter?

Many thanks

Yes, two 1/8" to 1/4" cables for L, R will do the job. You should not worry regarding balanced/unbalanced if you cables are just a few meters long, or you do not have a lot of noisy equipment around.

Would this mixer work for non-modular sound sources? I want to build a little pod to mix my 0Coast/Strega/Deluge and I wonder if it will work with the Deluge signal.
