It just will generate 4 random voltages with a separate trigger input for each voltage. The type of randomness is controlled by several parameters. Maybe we should rename it to "Multiple Random Voltage Source" to avoid misunderstandings.
And both the Fluctuating Random Voltages and the Chaos modules are not yet dead (as well as the new frequency shifter and the pitch-to-voltage module).
.
Can anyone tell me about the chaos module(s) mentioned above. IE.. name or number
I can not seem to find anything on Modulargrid.

Finally available !
Quite sexy interface for a Doepfer module, but I don't really get what it's for.
Quad random polyphony... Seriously, who want/use that ?
I'm really curious if you care

Are you kidding???
The DivKid Random module does 6 random outputs and it's a popular module. I have used all 6 at times. The Buchla Easel has 3 randowm sources. I am excited for the Doepfer module. I won't be using it for polyphony, but I think Doepfer just positioned this as part of their quad polypohony suite.
The doepfer site itself hasn't updated this as available but I've had one for a couple of weeks (ordered as soon as available from Juno UK)
It's great! Mainly use it to feed a Shakmat Bard Quartet - may sound weird putting quantised voltages into a quantiser but can easily manipulate the key/scales
I'll try and put a vid together this weekend (but am generally terrible at that)

It's a few mm deeper than it needs to be to fit in a Intellijel Palette case, but there is a pin header on the bottom board that is the only issue. Anyone know what it's for? Maybe an expansion? I am half inclined to clip the pins off or bend them sideways to make it fit.
I asked Doepfer. in the final firmware there should be the possibility to set the minor scale to : Aeolian, harmonic 1/2 melodic and Dorian with the switches +6 and +7.
can someone test this?
Nah, as far as I've noticed it's probably just 5v, I mean, that's 5 octaves, if you need a 10 octave span you're probably going to need something else. I could be wrong though as I've only ever really run it over a few octaves. I think all Doepfer knobs go to 10 regardless of what they are.

Got it, that works for most applications. I'm not using it for pitch but to add some per step random for Verbos modules which are 0-10v. I don't plan on using this module for pitch. It really needs an offset control or octave switch to be used for melodies.

This prompted me to test this out on one of mine — range knob cranked CW, outputting octaves, and plotting the voltage on my O’Tool+ — and I’m seeing voltages get as high as 9V. I’m realizing now that it might get higher than that when using a finer resolution, like semitones.
Got this module and using it mostly as a sort of monopolar S&H where I can set and control the output values and range directly on the module. Bonus is that you can sort of use it like a random quantized arp.
Only real dislike is that it does not remember it's button settings between power cycles.
If it had that - and an offset setting to its output it would be really great (I'm using it with a WMD Volt to transpose/offse the output).
I can confirm my volt reader is reading a high of 9.9 volts (tested in the continuous unquantized voltage setting).
this is why i sold my frap tools sapel and replaced it with two of these. sapel only put out around 6v max (and rarely even hit that). not enough for my needs. this think is prefect, big range of potentail voltages and super useful built in quantization. couldn't be happier with it (except as stated, it would have been nice to hold settings on power cycle, but not a deal breaker by any means).

Awesome, my initial thought was this would be awesome with the Stochastic Inspiration Generator. 4 gates and triggered random for each voice. I'm thinking of grabbing another because it seems so useful. I like the idea of quantized random for non-v/oct sources like filters, fm index, etc. Doepfer keeps putting out gold. He's the OG and still makes awesome stuff for good prices.

Precisely why I like modules where knob position acts as the center point or offset for incoming voltage.
I’ve got one in my Doepfer polyphonic rack and have used it for pitch, it’s quite cool and packs a lot into a tiny space, I wish it had some CV control though.
If I get a chance I’ll do a little vid about it
