Mine doesn't do that, but I'd be curious to know how to make it do that? Maybe not all the time, but sounds like a neat noise.Mimmo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 6:34 pm I love "noise" as well but this isn't the good kind. It's like a pitched up frozen Darth Vader's breathing, it has too much character, like an element you could add to a track but now it's on every track you use the module. I love Make Noise, I have many of their modules, but this is a flaw, I don't know if it's hardware related or software but it shouldn't be there.

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Nope. Digital
Set the Color to as bright as possible and crank your system's output.cloverandgrape wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 6:29 pmMine doesn't do that, but I'd be curious to know how to make it do that? Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Definitely digital. It was modeled after the DeltaLabs Effectron II 19" rack unit digital flanger/delay from the early 80s (which I actually own along with the original Effectron).cloverandgrape wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 6:30 pmIs mimeophon considered analog? Since it's "firmware" based, I assumed that meant digital.
It's talked about here:

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
I just updated. Made a recording in Ableton before and after same settings the noise floor on mine dropped by 8 db.
Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Hell yeah, thanks for checking that

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Are you sure your Mimeophon has the same input gain setting as it did after the update?
After the update I repeated the test I posted earlier and I get a very similar noise profile -- the level fluctuates by a few dB but it's the same average. (Which is quiet enough for me not to worry about anyway...)

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Yes I measured a drop of the noise floor as well after the update, around 10db!

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Didn’t realize there were updates at all for Mimeophon!
I also found increasing Color, above unity added too much noise.

Has anyone else installed the newest update and notice the hiss/noise db levels drop when set closer to dry?

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
With the update the noise seems more uniform for me, it’s now similar dry or wet. However I have to turn up the levels very high before I can hear any noise.

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
doesnt everyone have that "open-air" noise coming from their morphagene?

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
That is a bit alarming, I'll admit. WTF? Nothing like that for me (yet). What could have caused that for him? I did see parts of this video when it was released, but I must have missed that. Hrrrrm.

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
My Morphagene has it and has had it since day 1... it is acoustic noise and not in the signal path at all. It is faint, but I can hear it from about 3' away in quiet room-- it does not cause any problems for me. No complaints from me with either MG or Mimeophon.0netwo0netwo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 6:48 pm doesnt everyone have that "open-air" noise coming from their morphagene?

Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
yeah im just sayin because that video made it feel like our mimeo's & morph's are ticking time bombs and its gonna break and have that happen any minute now. My Morph (#2626) has had it since day one as well. I do definitely get irritated by the acoustic noise, but not as much as I love experimenting with my Morphagene. It would be a different story if it was causing it to not function properly.

but that part in the video was a straight attack from Benn
Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
FWIW, I ran the firmware update this morning and the dry noise seemed to drop noticeably. It never really bothered me much before, but it's worth running. Makes me think it's not "coil whine" if it's fixable in firmware.
Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
To my knowledge those are two different topics. One is the discussion about noise in the audio path. The "coil whine" is acoustic noise which emits from the module itself -> please see the linked Make Noise statement above (in context 'Morphagene'). I don't know if the second topic also applies to the Mimeophon.
Re: MakeNoise Mimeophon
Yeah that was odd. Wondering if it came from a place of ignorance or what.Granny wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:12 ammy old mackie mixer has this, tooluketeaford wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 7:52 pmMy Morphagene has it and has had it since day 1... it is acoustic noise and not in the signal path at all.
