From what I noticed in the limited messaging from Rabid Elephant during the latest wave of Natural Gates (in which I grabbed one), RE seemed to indicate that another pre-order window would open up in the near future. I jumped in on the very early days of the last pre-order, and it was almost exactly 3 months from order to delivery.

Okay, we've seen RE deliver so I feel safe preordering.
I just hope gmail doesn't screw me again by spam filtering it. I thought I had a filter setup for them..

Build quality seems vastly overemphasized. Everything feels cheap and wobbly and doesn't feel better quality than an Optomix. Looks great, sounds good, but not exceptional.

Don't know what the latest runs are like but I got one from batch #2 and the build is solid, thing is built like a tank

I think the only thing I wasn't thrilled about with my NG, which I believe was from the first batch, is the graphics seemed to rub off with time. I thought the build quality was excellent... ha otherwise the offer stands to take the NG off your hands.

The build of it is awesome, the dark grey/black paint they use for the plate is too delicate tho.

I agree. I’m sure I would have a second one by now if they were instantly available/in stock always.

ive got an optomix v1 that i also love, but i would say natural gate has a 'tighter' sound. the highs, while filtered, are a bit more in control than the optomix. The mids and lows are a bit more cloudy and loose on the optomix. really hard to describe with words but i would say the optomix sounds more like a real sound recorded to tape where natural gate sounds like the real sound i hear with my ears in the air

build quality is fine, i dont see what the gripe is here. ergonomics could be a bit better in my opinion the CV attenuator is a bit too hard to reach all patched up for such an important knob. i would also prefer a couple normalizations to reduce the clutter as i often have tiny stackcables jumping from channel to channel

Even though I am significantly pairing down my rack, NG is a "never sell" module. It consistently surprises me with how great it sounds and how every tweak and modulation source produces satisfying musical results.

I have it permanently paired with Stages. It loves that big voltage range.

I prepared myself for a long wait when ordering and seeing this. I had ordered beginning of March of this year, I got it mid April.

No news about Portal Drum... hopefully that's still on track for the end of this year.
