So it's 0-5V for the grind inputs, but what about the other inputs? I could not find that info in the manual.

Hi all, I just got an update on the pcb assemblies, they are due on may 19th, so we should start to have them in stock and shipping the week after that.

Jollytack: I'll try to put that info on the manual/website soon. The grind cv is more like 0-8v for full range but 0-5 is pretty musical. The grind cvs are unipolar, all the others are bipolar. It will happily respond all the way to the rails (+-12V). When oscillating the sine outputs are 5vpp which is a little low for an oscillator but is a compromise so it still works as a filter. Depending on the combinations of feedback paths the outputs will go almost all the way to 24vpp (minus a couple diode drops of course).

Really having fun with my Angle Grinder especially using it with 100 Grit and feeding it with Trident and Hertz Donut for FM inputs. Still learning mine a deep complex module but easy to use.

This thing is a beast ! In love with the Bandpass sound and weird instability you get using the integrated feeback !

Here is a full jam using the Schlappi modules for funky bassline (Angle Grinder as the VCO and 100 Grit as the Filter)

Hey there Angle Grinder fanatics ! Did anyone ever thought of sending slow CV to the Grind input ? Well it does great PWM sounds, you can check it out here:

I'm also hosting a big demo video tomorow, with the two other modules from the brand, and Eric Schlappi will be in the chatroom with me during the premiere if anyone want to join in to ask questions, make sure you are on time ;-)

Really nice patch. Quick question, what's changing the Angle Grinder pitch?

Nothing actualy, the PWM thing can sound like a sort of vibrato sometimes so it's probably that.

Really? For example, at 3:58 the pitch changes from the original note to the b6 of that not as you twist whatever knob it is you twist. Likewise around the 5:00 mark we can hear a b3 interval. It sounds really cool but intentional, unless there is also sound coming from the Make Noise module too which is creating this sensation?

Ah yes that's it, at the end i'm using both together, and you can see me twiddle the "Fine" knob to change the note.

Finally . . . mine is ordered and just shipped today from Control Voltage . . . in black. My first Schlappi module was Interstellar Radio (can I get a black panel for that?), and I was just blown away. A unique module that sounds exactly as you'd expect an "interstellar radio" to sound. Then came the universally acclaimed 100 Grit, and wow! Now, finally, I will soon have the Schlappi triumvirate.

Will definitely do a new video demo of the three modules for my YouTube channel using all of my recently acquired video-toys. These modules just beg to be accompanied by glitch-videos . . .

[GlitchCRT of shattered glass shot at 240fps (no audio).]

deathbox v1.0

Image
4ms pod64x deathbox.

Patch: 2hp Vowel → Angle Grinder → 100 Grit → Ruina Versio.

I finally found the sweet-spot for my Ruina Versio: It terminates a signal-chain driven by a 2hp Vowel, Schlappi Angle Grinder and 100 Grit—this is deathbox. The distortion-into-distortion patch is heaven (er, hell) . . . the kind of mega-distortion I've been searching for—it's not in a single module, it's in a series of modules where Angle Grinder is the je ne sais quoi which makes this the perfect megadeath distortion-machine.

Any videos mate? I have a few of these modules and have been tempted by the 2hp vowel.

I will definitely get on it this weekend! I bought a huge amount of video gear for my YouTube channel I've yet to use, including an eight-input HDMI-switcher, a pile of cameras, and an awesome micro-dolly for super-cinematic shots. I'm so excited by this new Schlappi/NE set-up, I'm all hot to shoot this. I'm just so happily surprised and thrilled with the sonic palette of this ultimate distortion-combo. When I first got Ruina Versio, I was like, "Is that it?" Perhaps I wasn't using it "right," but in this signal-chain, it's insane—the sum of its parts kinda thing . . .

As for 2hp's Vowel, I absolutely love it. I own a lot of speech/formant-modules, and this one sounds really good with a lot fidelity, better than many others. It's a unique sound with the flavor of human-formants. It's inexpensive, so no great loss if you don't like it (however, I can't imagine that).

I shot a quick iPhone video last night, but I moved it to the 100 Grit thread here instead, since the patch highlights the 100 Grit more than the Angle Grinder and is more on-topic there.

2hp Vowel → Schlappi Angle Grinder:

Made another iPhone demo, this time playing the 2hp alone, then patching-in the Schlappi Angle Grinder. 2hp's vowel-input is modulated by a slow-LFO into the CV-input on a Xaoc Batumi. Another Batumi channel into the FM-input on the Angle Grinder. Barely scratched the surface of this module—so different from 100 Grit—I don't think there's any overlap. So happy I finally got the third must-have Schlappi module.

I recently had a go at making my own angle grinder patch, it worked out quite well! With a filter with several outputs and a comparator (maths ch 1 *cough*) and inverter you can get quite a simplified version.

Thanks for giving me patch ideas schlappi, I wont be able to hold myself from buying one of these crazy things one day either way.
