Re: Hydrasynth gets smaller....and bigger

What’s programming the regular unit like? The explorer appeals to me but at the same time I want to be programming it a lot, and so less knobs etc makes me concerned it will be a pain. Perhaps I should do the desktop It is the single best interface that I've ever used on a fixed architecture (as in...

Re: Sequential Take 5

Good question. It's been 4 months and I'd imagine you'd need more time to design and manufacture a synth. Indeed. It's far more likely this was part of what helped Dave sell the company. "We're also 90% done this high value, low-cost model that will allow us to push into new markets blah blah blah"...

Re: Do you ask buyers to pay PayPal's fee?

As others have said, the buyer is essentially paying the fee regardless, so just bundle it in your asking price and be done with it.

Nickel and diming to extract some tiny marginal benefit puts me off a seller.

Re: Moog ladder filter is overrated

My tuppence worth: I have never heard a steiner based filter design that didn't give me the 'dry bolk', while MI Ripples hits the spot every time. It doesn't have the low end 'suck' at higher resonance values that every Minimoog filter clone faithfully reproduces - including the otherwise excellent...

Re: (Largely?) Fake Delia Derbyshire and Martin Hannett CD

"Original hits by the original artists". :foul: I had this happen to me about 20 years ago when I bought what was advertised as a compilation of electronic music by various name artists (JMJ, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, YMO, et al.). I was a bit surprised to hear what sounded more than a bit like a ...

Victor Papa November Weird. I tried using a VPN that specifically advertises being able to access the BBC iPlayer, and it still didn't work. Maybe I did it wrong? I also found this on the iPlayer site: https://i.ibb.co/KXJtSvr/Screenshot-2021-05-18-082815.png We use Nord VPN; seems to work very wel...

Re: New film... Delia Derbyshire: The Myths and Legendary Tapes

This is up on BBC iPlayer (Three? Four? Can't recall) right now. Highly recommended. Well, that got my hopes up, so I registered for a BBC iPlayer account, found the DD documentary (it's on Four)-but no joy-can't play or download it (screenshot below). I'm in the US, thought you were too. Are you a...

Weird to me that someone would consider the Prophet Rev2 "vintage" sounding. It's a very stable, modern, polished sound made more so by the addition of plentiful mod routings and onboard effects.

Re: Ever sell a synth and instantly regret it?

I think the only one I ever truly regretted was a 4xxx serial number Model D. Lovely instrument. It was worth the hype and more. If I ever come across another one I'll buy it and hold onto it for the remainder of my days.

Mind you I got an SEM and cash in the trade, so it wasn't all bad news.

Where are you seeing only 300k for Sequential?

The figure I saw was $20 million plus another $4 million based on performance targets. That strikes me as far more plausible.

I guess Dave's retiring and wants his nest egg ... or he's behind in his tax payments :hihi: I wonder what the implications are, if any? What of Dave's tech might we see in Focusrite products? Focusrite also owns Novation, so the answer is probably minimal. Focusrite seems to stay in their lane whe...

Yet another reason I'm not thrilled to have my bank account information in their hands. I asked about reverting back to processing payments through PayPal again and they simply don't al...

I've only had one negative experience with a retailer and it was a decade ago (they sold a piece of vintage gear and didn't bother telling me the sliders on the front panel were stickier than molasses and the scaling was off by more than a semitone per octave), so I'm not going to bother naming them...

Re: Guitar pedals vs Plugins

When I first got back into guitar about 7 or 8 years ago I fooled myself into thinking I could make do with just plugging my guitar into an interface and layering on the effects in a DAW. And it works, but it didn't inspire me much. For some reason I find a $140 Zoom Multi-FX pedal which only allows...

Mesa Boogie California Tweed is 6V6's, the Fillmore is 6L6's. Highly recommend.
I'd looked that one up and it does sound nice, but it's really outside my comfort zone for spending since it comes in at just pennies under $1,700 USD.

Maybe if I can find one gently used.
