Excellent interview. Not the standard blah blah but actually interesting. A brilliant mind he is.
Yes,until near then end spilling out nonsense about Synclaviers, screws up completely his credibility ...over the whole line.

Impossible to take this guy serious anymore, burned forever

I offer in 1-2 months VCS3 cabinets, panels sets.
The Matrix is available from Ghiellmetti.
Pcbs can be ordered by me or my partners.
I also make a panel pcb for the upper frontpanel which improve the build process.
Nice!

I keep an eye on this.

Re: BI Tech P260P replacing Spectrol 148/149 in MOTM

Yes i recommend these pots, also for MOTM builts,i have used many of them years ago, they are perfect for freq and fine tune, you don't need cermet! They are cheap VS good quality Just be careful not to heat the pins for too long, you can damage them faster then another pot. If you want hi-end Cermet yo...

Re: Synchronisation Issues - External gear, Live, Audio & MIDI

Likely you need a small midi merger box then.

Note the ERM box is to lock perfect 'time code' ,clock signal,if you have note-data timing issues you can't do anything with the ERM box.

I use the ERM box to sync my MPC-60,TR-808/909,SP-1200 etc with and record in perfect sync into Live.

Re: Synchronisation Issues - External gear, Live, Audio & MIDI

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's a £400 clock...Could I perhaps use an external clock that has one output, and send it to a thru box to duplicate the signal? Also, how would I then get midi data from Live to these if the Midi in is used by the clock? It comes with a plugin that generates a hi ...

Its well know that its hard to sync external gear from Ableton Live, Buy a ERM Multiclock, this solves completely your solution (i have one).

Re: [IC] vintage 6-voice polysynth kit project?

If the price is the most important factor, then it's no competition between THT and SMD. E.G. For a large analog poly project with a high component count making it a pre-soldered SMD version will be way cheaper IF ordered 100pcs or more. Though this requires the designer/manufacturer to take a risk...

Funny, I don't remember there being any SMT parts in the original Memorymoog...
Yes,its that doing a SMT run of boards is much less expensive (less plated holes, also more compact boards) to manufacture,so much easier to attract buyers.

Re: [IC] vintage 6-voice polysynth kit project?

We hope that people will be pleased with the current thinking around Thru hole and SMT as it relates to this project. The original project from Luis Marka was a reproduction as close as possible to the real thing memorymoog,if it turns out to a hybrid TH/SMT project it has nothing to do anymore wit...

Re: Schmidt Eight Voice Analog Synth

I think there is a repeated waveform reset cycling on the Xpander and Matrix 12 why it sounds more towards DCO's and this is what i have been told (has to be verified).

In any case they do not sound more 'vco' then the dco's from the Schmidt
