Re: Your favorite never talked about module.

The Klavis Flexshaper. It certainly pops up in discussion around here from time to time, but not often enough for how cool it is. It's currently my favorite distortion module (fully voltage controllable distortion curve editor, I mean come on!) and my favorite way to control non-linearity in chaoti...

Re: 10+ years of changes in Eurorack.

shout out to anyone here who sat on the Doepfer yahoo group circa 2002-2005 or so. that was sort of the “eurorack forum” back then. peter grenader and harvestman were members and from them i think the whole thing branched off from Doepfer. Also shout out to Parallel Worlds, a fellow MW member, who ...

Re: Ladik love

Yes and no. I own both. I don't remember if the TG resets per trigger or not. That's an option for Ladik but I usually have mine set to not retrigger; this allows the module to "curve" the phrasing even from a fixed pattern. The TG does the beautiful thing of introducing probability of change of gat...

John is back and he's bumping the E102 thread! Dude, you've made a weary soul happy today! :goo: :goo: :goo:

A good alternative to the Instruo quantizer is the Bastl 1983 which can also receive MIDI and define the quantization.

Re: 10+ years of changes in Eurorack.

Dan and 4ms came from pedals, same as WMD. Not a lot of manufacturers back then, and their RCD was and still is quite popular. It's nice to see how one or two very popular designs was what distinguished what are now considered "bigger" brands in the Eurorack world. In the back stage there was a lot ...

Re: 10+ years of changes in Eurorack.

The peculiar practice of buying modules without knowing what they do was nonexistent. As was information around specific modules. We'd frequent the forum (anyone who remembers the Doepfer Yahoo server?) and ask a l o t of questions before buying anything. No YT videos, demos, or synthfluencers to b...

Re: Ladik love

You define the length by CV or knob, if your new gate is larger than the timing of the next trigger(s) you're getting divisions, this can end up being superbly musical in many ways. You can have the gate retrigger with each new trigger or just fire a gate based on the setting/CV. It's definitely one...

I absolutely love both of the Ladik modules but honestly don't believe G would be a good replacement for Grids. No way you're going to get the nice drum patterns you get from Grids from this one. It's very different.

Mungo? Off topic here, I suppose... but what makes this brand worth anywhere near the prices they charge? None of their modules seem the least bit groundbreaking in any conceivable way. Hahahahhahahahahahaha  Oh man, you chose Mungo as one of the least innovative designs? I'm sure it comes as ...

Oh I think I am too deep concentrated with other stuff right now (being the video expander). 24ppqn = 24 ticks per quarter note, of course. Gives you 1/16 note for each step (if the groove is set to 6). No worries, :hihi: I sometimes get confused as well and need to recheck my notes. You already sp...

Re: Re:

No, one step needs 6 ticks with a groove of 6. This is a quarter note. A full note would be at 4 steps (4/4) which needs 24 ticks. A full pattern of 64 steps needs 384 ticks. But that with the most basic setting. Ha! That's weird. How is it 24 pulses per quarter note (ppqn) if it needs 6 ticks for ...

Re: Re:

Exactly, the NerdSEQ runs at 24ppqn internally which would mean 6 equal ticks per step. 4 step would usually be a full note (if you set the gate and/or change the note on the first step and stop it after the 4th step) if the groove is all set to 6. Half a note would be set on the first, reset after...

From what I understand, the groove parameter controls the individual step length, so effectively you could have 1/4 or 1/8 notes. Have you looked at pages 102-103 of the manual, where the CVable features are described? Some additional recording- and MIDI-based features are described on pages 104 and onwards. Thanks for the pointer, I'll take a look. ;) I don't really know yet about the follower functions, but I just got Befac...

Re: Let's talk about innovation, not rehash of rehash

The building blocks are out there (and have always been out there, for 50 years now), what users can do with them is only limited by their approaches to patching. . Complete crap. There has been a lot of innovation the century, and a lot of physical-system research that can and has make new "fundam...
