Re: newer loopers/headrush looperboard and aeros?

I know this might be a bit off base, but I think I might throw this out there. I admittedly have little experience in loopers so wanted feature sets are probable not known by me. I haven't had a chance to patch it up yet, but I have been thinking of using the Disting Mk4's K6, K7, or K8 SD Card Dela...

Re: Control Voltage Knob

You might want to look into MIDI Continuous Controller to CV converters, then you can use any of the various MIDI controllers out there. It may be hard to find a converter that uses MIDI CC as most are geared for note usage. You might think about making a mini-skiff or buying a 4ms pod and putting s...

Re: Introducing ADDAC221 & ADDAC222 CV-to-MIDI modules

This implies that the Launchpad's midi will go through the 221 ok. It all depends on how finicky the Lauchpad's target is about the data coming from it. I read that on the website too, and I'm gonna hope for the best. Just placed an order, so I guess my question will be definitively answered soon e...

I remember when Blue LED's were expensive, now they just make everything look cheap.
It seems that SciFi TV shows have fallen HARD for Blue LED lighting. I see it everywhere (especially on CW shows). I agree totally, the blue just screams cheap to me now.

Re: Introducing ADDAC221 & ADDAC222 CV-to-MIDI modules

This thread has been dormant for a while, but maybe someone is listening that can answer a (probably dumb) question about the 221. I mostly sequence with a launchpad pro over midi but I want to use the 221 for modulation. Will the 221 merge the midi messages it revives at it's input with the CC it ...

Re: Some program request for Disting and EX

Thanks for the suggestions. X & Y are inputs though, so that makes all the above impossible. Yikes! Truly new to the Disting and it shows. Could theses be EX programs? The Extra CV ins on the EX could be used to CV most of the parameters I mention above too. I'm going to add an EX to my pair of mk4...

Some program request for Disting and EX

As a new Disting Mk4 owner (just got two!) I don't know if there is a procedure in place for suggesting ideas for new programs for the Disting or EX, so I will just post a few simple ones I personally would find useful. Forgive me if some of these are buried in the features of some current program, ...

Re: Migrating to Apple silicon - issues, solutions, trouble-shooting

It is all up to the software you want to run. If it REQUIRES a M1 to run, then get that. If it doesn't, then get a Intel Mac Mini. This should be the other way around. Don't buy an Intel Mac today unless you have a need to run software that doesn't currently run on an M1 machine. Apple silicon is q...

Re: Migrating to Apple silicon - issues, solutions, trouble-shooting

buying a new intel.mac right now would be really stupid. but there are a lotta used intel macs around now for good prices (from M1 upgraders), though I would suggest only 2015 models... and avoid any 2016-2020.. I'm not sure that buying a new intel mac would be stupid - it depends entirely on the p...

Re: Stereo Triggered Sampler from 4ms

My questions are: 1) Do clicks happen when re-triggering long samples with no adjustments to sample start/end 2) Same question only what if my recorded sample had continuous sound during the starting of a recording (reverb tails for example) 3) Is the effect of clicking different when in sample loo...

Re: Why is Mackie CR1604 a classic in the world of Electro?

I've been spending time with this mixer and one thing I could not figure out was this - I have a TRS snake coming out from my drum machine and into channels 1-6 of the Mackie. The drum machine's stereo out goes into channels 9 and 10. Channels 1-8 are all routed from the direct channel out jacks (f...

Re: Why is Mackie CR1604 a classic in the world of Electro?

Woah, you just blew my mind a little there. Yes I meant the AUX returns. When you say this “If you want direct outs, you should make some TRS to Dual TS cables and usr the send/returns in each channel. That way you can get a direct out from all 16 channels” do you mean direct out, like I these cabl...

Re: Why is Mackie CR1604 a classic in the world of Electro?

If I am understanding and wiring this right, the Aux outs go through the stereo mains only? Or can I wire it so they go through the individual outs 1-8? I don't fully get that yet. Maybe that will clean up some crosstalk issues as well. You mean the AUX returns right? The Returns are mixed into the...

Re: looking to complete my setup, need expert suggestions

I am going to suggest something that may be redundant with the MPC but I'm not particularly versed in the MPC so here goes - A while back I ditched all the VCOs in my modular and replaced them with Wave Players and Granular modules (Qu-bit Nebulae, 4ms STS, Tesseract Nutella). I'm not suggesting you...

i started out wanting a setup built around tribal pecussion. i able to do that at this point,, but the deeper I go the more I want a system that will play itself on one clock. pad, counter melody, rhythm section here and there. I wonder if I have enough in the way of distributing the clock and cv a...

Re: looking to complete my setup, need expert suggestions

This is ALSO good advice! But maybe make an entire control skiff, it's so awesome to have :D The control skiff is the way to go. Here is mine, built into a old Anvil Road case Briefcase (which is exactly 84HP inside!). I typically connect to the main cabinet through that Trunk-16 module I made (low...

Re: looking to complete my setup, need expert suggestions

I'm a little biased because I make controllers, but new systems seem to typically lack them. I would add some CV controllers so you can manually play the rig more. A joystick (I suggest the Planar2 because of the memory function), some Slide Pot controllers (of course I would suggest the SP-4DP) or ...

Re: Controllers for the Qu Bit Nebulae V2

I have two Nebulae V2 and two 4ms STS in my rig (no VCOs) and I control them with a combination of Joysticks, SP-4DP Slide Pot Modules, and PGM-4X4 programmers. The PGM can control four parameters at once and so can control the start, length, speed and pitch all at once. With four "presets", I typic...

Re: [?] How to move your setup from home to studio without ruining your own existence every time

I used to move my studio to synth meets and such, and to live gigs (remember those) and the process was not hard for me because I used a bunch of 6Ux84HP cabinets and skiffs instead of a larger one. I use a controller skiff and the connections to the main cabinets was made through a 16 channel trunk...

Re: Nord Modular thread

My hope is that some programmer finds a way to make the Axoloti or the Akso boards run with a interface as elegant as the Nord's. They can do a ton of stuff already, many things the Nords can't. It is just not as easy or fun as it is on the Nords.

Re: Attaching two cases together vertically

I had an idea a while back for a stand based on the designs you find for displaying decorative plates. It is a pair of curved cut pieces with a hinge in the back A tripod when opened). The cases would lay on this curve, stopped by a lip in the front. Gravity would do all the work. In my situation, I...
