Re: Recommendation for Feedback

I am not a fan of having fixed frequency bands like on the resonant EQ. everyone loves it but they are all squeaking at the same frequencies. you can't modulate the frequency of the bands or the Q factor so that is really boring to me. The Q filter is amazing. I would put that at the top of the lis...

Re: Recommendation for Feedback

How would the A-138m compare to the Nonlinear Circuits Clump ? I think the Clump is basically a VC 138m. I thought about getting one as the 138m is at the heart of a lot of my drone patches, as is the ResEQ, neither of which have any VC inputs. All just old fashioned hands on knobs. The ResEQ is de...

Re: clock dividers, I generally dislike 2hp modules but inherited a 2hp Div (VC clock divider) and you can get some pretty crazy ratchet and bouncing ball effects out of it if that's what you're going for.

Re: How important is having a Pamela's New Workout in your system and are there alternatives?

FWIW I detest most menu-driven euro modules but find PNW indispensable and easy to use. If you make techno or techno adjacent music, having 8 rhythmically related modulation sources that can be numerically nudged, squeezed, and pulled around each other is so great. I use Voltage Block for this kind ...

Re: HP vs Ergonomics, How do you decide?

I agree that modular is already so small, go for the bigger modules. I found that more than size, having complicated cryptic button presses and tiny screens is much more frustrating, for me. That said, there are a few, like Pamela's NW which I find incredibly useful, simple to operate, and holds mas...

Re: Comb Filters (Bionic Lester MK3)?

I have a Rainmaker and the BL and no the BL is absolutely what you'd want. It's specifically also positive/negative comb and can transition smoothly between these I wouldn't say smoothly, there's hella zipper noise. I honestly didn't mind it but I'd never call it smooth. The comb filter is by far t...

I also think the loopop video is too short and too dense to cover the features and so i found it a bit hard to watch. I found it hard to watch because of the Sesame Street melody he had playing throughout. I want to see the sequencer flexed and doing something interesting, all the other info I can ...

Re: ways to sidechain a kick

I use the SSF Detect Rx for creating sidechain effects. I use it for this a lot actually. It has a built in threshold control and a gate out straight from a comparator which I can send to my function generator (an ADDAC506 which has onboard inversion and amplitude control). It has a lot of nice othe...

20210312_140839.jpg Lol there we go. Really curious how you're liking the 112. Excited to hear demos and accounts, it looks insane. Also, how do you like the Heuristic Rhythm Generator? Was tempted to get one recently but hesitated at the last minute. The 402 is the best euro euclidean module. No a...

Does anyone here have both the Rytm and alpha? Would you care to talk about strengths and weaknesses comparing the 2? I know the sequencer we don’t even need to talk about and probably also sample management so I guess what I’m curious is more in the sound quality and cohesion in the overall sound ...

Re: Beads vs ADDAC112 vs Arbhar vs Miso

Very much looking forward to ADDAC112! I wish they would use only normal pots. I do use this often more than the "main" pots. Might as well just throw attenuverters in for each input and make it whole 104hp. I laughed when I saw the size of this thing but it does look cool. I'm honestly baffled by ...

Re: I'm sorry, really, but I'd like your opinions re QPAS or Stereo Dipole or Parallax

i just got a bionic lester yesterday, so i don't have much experience with it yet but i can confirm the comb mode is great! One thing to watch out for with that filter is the massive bass cut you get when you turn the resonance up. The comb mode is very sick on that thing though, the filthiest comb...

Seems like the inverse of the Dipole in that way, which has a kind of innate light touch and needs to be intentionally pushed into wilder territory. The res is just so mild on the Dipole, but once you start layering 4 res peaks and turn the drive up it can get super gnarly. Still, the magic of both...

Re: I'm sorry, really, but I'd like your opinions re QPAS or Stereo Dipole or Parallax

Don't know much about the Qpas, seems a bit rambunctious though. Only if you want it to be. My favourite use for it (other than a lovely rich stereo filter generally) is to feed in a mono signal and gently use subtle animated resonance peaks in each channel to turn it into a subtly stereo signal wi...

Didn’t like the resonance of the qpas, got the dipole, which I find not really easy to deal with and lacks a bit in character. I wonder about MI blades and if would satisfy me Anyone as tried it next to the dipole? I ended up getting a Stereo Dipole and was not immediately impressed by it. It doesn...

Re: Envelope generators that respond to dynamic gates

correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't a slew limiter do that? Just slew the gate? My only slew limiter only has a single control for slew so the attack and decay would always be the same, which would be pretty useless. You'd also be limited to linear AD curves. well there are more advanced slew lim...

Envelope generators that respond to dynamic gates

For use with the Make Noise 0-Ctrl

Doesn't seem like there are many. Actually I haven't found a single one, kind of hard to search for.

Anyone know of any?

The Good I adore the look and feel of Xaoc and Vermona modules, as well as Erica's Black series. They all have a test equipment vibe that makes me feel like I'm in an old engineering lab. All the R*S Serge stuff I've been adding lately are feeding that vibe, and sound spectacular as well. I also re...
