Re: tips on authentic 80's pop production

80's digital reverbs definitely have a sound. If you don't want to go vintage, the Otto Bam does great 80's reverb. The most outrageously 80's sounding drum machine in my opinion is the Kawai R-100. Less iconic than the Linn Drum but it just screams 80's synth pop. Best with the R-50e chip, or just ...

Re: Massive Gear Lust

I significantly reduced my GAS by deciding to limit purchases to things that directly contribute to my immediate musical goals. So rather than getting excited about every shiny new module or synth that comes out or classic beasties on youtube, I focus on things that will move my current projects for...

Re: Anxiety and playing

As mentioned above, pull all the cables and do something simple. But first, think of one thing you'd like to explore today. Could be anything, as long as it's not too difficult. This way you'll feel good about exploring something new (e.g. filter FM, euclidean rhythms, using a perc voice for melodie...

Re: Do I need an M303?

I get great 303-ish sounds from saw/square into WMD C4RBN filter with two envelope generators, one for the main sound and the other for accents. The accent envelope goes to the RES input and also to a CV mixer with the main envelope so that accents bump both the FM and RES inputs. WMD time warp hand...

Re: 1010 Music Bitbox - Sampler/Looper

Well then I must be superhuman because I can defnitely hear 3 ms latency if there is another transient being trigerred with 0 ms latency. I hear flamming of the transients. So I can't discern the delay but the effects are still clearly audible. This isn't a problem if there are no fast attacks to co...

Re: Any advice on methods used to recalling patches?

When I have a patch that I want to (attempt to) return to later I draw the modules used in the patch with knob and switch positions, and draw the patch cables with coloured felt-tip pens. Rather than a way of exactly reproducing patches I see it as a way of making notes about what I've discovered th...

Re: Anyone with experience of Tesseract Tex Mix

I have a 4 mono module and a 4 stereo module. I just tried some tests with sine waves and also with bell samples from bitbox micro. I couldn't hear any difference between mono and stereo channels. I also tried bypassing the Texmix altogether and didn't notice any difference there either, although it...

Re: Korg 2600 Mini

I wouldn't recommend buying synths only to flip them unless you can do it in some kind of volume-- and if you can do that, most things would probably be a better investment of time and money. I would speculate full size will always be more desirable than the mini, but it seems unlikely to me that y...

Re: Korg 2600 Mini

I happened upon a Korg 2600 FS today for much less than they are selling on ebay, which is tempting if i could indeed sell it at a slight profit later. But I'm wondering if the ebay prices will drop when the little M comes out. Any opinions about whether it's still worth grabbing a Korg 2500 FS week...

Re: Intellijel Quadrax

Quadrax can be complicated but it doesn't have to be. I just leave mine as 4 envelope generators with CV over decay. Sometimes change modes between AD and ASR, and that's it, it's exactly what I wanted, nothing more, nothing less, nothing to remember

Zadar would be very useful, it's awesome as a mod source and can itself be modulated in interesting ways. But you're going to need VCA's

Two absolutely awesome uses of 2hp:

Transient Modules 4R - 4 stepped random CV's
2hp Verb - one of the best sounding eurorack reverbs at any size

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

Cv pan modules would work for sure but it would take quite a lot of work I think compared to LRMSMSLR to reach something. Of course there would be more options but way more work. Depends what you're after but a 4R and a Bubblesound Pan would be 6hp total and would be all that's needed to get stereo...

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

I would think a CV pan module would be ideal. Then each hit could have it's own position in the stereo field. If you don't have a pan module you could use 2 VCA's and something to flip the CV, like an attenuverter. You could use a sequencer or something like a wogglebug or Transient Modules 4R to co...

Getting my monitors off the desktop sounds way better.
I put them on a pair of monitor stands.
Less bass resonances and much clearer, more open sound.
Highly recommended :tu:
(only tangentially eurorack related, but it was today's small discovery)

Re: Monorocket power supplies - are they ok/good in 2021?

I have 3 monorocket cases, all 9U. The first one had a single linear PSU, the other two have dual switiching PSU's. The third one never worked. I could get it to power up only by connecting to mains via a transformer. Never found out why. One of the others, don't remember which, had a noise issue on...

Yep, it's quite easy. I started by copying existing code, a delay I think.

Re: Korg Opsix

the biggest criticism that comes to mind is that the envelopes-per-operator are not complex enough, they are simple ADSR envelopes. even the addition of just a delay parameter would potentiate more evolving sounds. i was looking at the screen and it didn't appear that there are any deeper parameter...

Might sound a bit silly, but you can get a real Solina for not much more on ebay. They come up quite often. I used to have a Mk 1, and I played a Streichfett when they came out. Not really in the same ball park according to my ears. I'd go for the real thing, and it would have bette resale value.
