Re: Comparison of Jupiter-ish filters?

I've seen raving reviews of the Jove and heard some things about the G-Storm Electro JP6-VCF using remakes of the original Roland IR3109 chips versus the Jove's LM13700. I see a few other Jupiter-ish filters on Modular Grid, like the Bizarre Jezabel Seju. Does anyone have an opinion or comparison o...

Re: Best Comb Effect

The Vult Freak filter includes a nice comb filter. I agree. I usually run my freak in dual mode with the DJ filter followed by a comb. Ditto. The Vult Freak is really great. I've had a few combs (analog solutions, rainmaker, 2hp, Bionic Lester mk1 and Rings) and this one is my favorite. I really di...

Re: Best Comb Effect

I see the Analogue Systems RS-120 gets a mention here. Would be really keen to understand more form users about how they find it? Especially interesting would be if anyone's used it vs Bionic Lester or Vult Freak comb filters?

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

Thanks for everyone's comments! mosorensen , t3lss I totally hear where you're coming from. I find myself with Eurorack too easily overcomplicating things that can potentially be solved in more direct ways. In many respects that's one of the things I enjoy about Eurorack - the solutions can yield un...

Re: Xaoc Devices Katowice

I'm wondering about using this with drums / percussion from a mono source (BIA) to do some panning with. There's some drums covered off in the above video, but wondered if anyone has any experience of something similar at all with Katowice? Hey, I haven't used both modules together yet - however, n...

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

Worng LRMSMSLR will do the trick if you have a hp filter to modulate the Side with. Sudio into L, S out to hp, hp filter out to S in, no resonance on the filter, fiddle with the frequency to get the separation you desire. If you mult a signal and patch it to both left and right you won't get a side...

Re: Casper/Bastl Ikarie Stereo Filter

Been reading and watching loads about the Ikarie - looks great.

I’m thinking about adding it to a drum rack.

Are people using it with drums or percussion and if so what’s your experience? I know there’s a brief bit in one of the videos.

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

I have an ALM Boss Bow Two sitting next to a WORNG Sound Stage for things like this. Triggers advance to each output which is patched to where I want the voice also on that trigger to appear spectrum and spread wise. I was wondering about doing something like that, so am really interested to hear y...

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

Cosmix does look class; the Vortices just seems to ooze character and creativity though. You enjoying it?

Maybe I need to review my overall case - perhaps I’ll need to go bigger!

Re: Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

Worng LRMSMSLR will do the trick if you have a hp filter to modulate the Side with. There are also a number of FX modules with a mono input that give a stereo output, I started with a 2hp Verb that gave me a deeper field over my mono mixes. Ah of course LRMSMSLR would be good for this sort of thing...

Mono drum source (BIA) to stereo sound

I've spent today using my Basimilus Iteritas Alter. I love how it sounds, and how modulation makes it go crazy. It's basically a full drum voice and more. Using BIA as a full drum voice sounds amazing, but I feel limited by only having a single, mono out. From what I can see that's the same as other...

Re: Rossum Linnaeus Thru-Zero State-Variable Filter

U-he CVilization in Quad Mucorder mode - it’s a fantastic 4 channel sample & hold source, with the ability to lock loops and do much, much more. Ah great! I’d heard of the module but not really understood it - just read about that mode; that seems super cool. I’d really vibe from recording CV then ...

Re: Rossum Linnaeus Thru-Zero State-Variable Filter

Here you go - here are some audio demos. In general I find Linnaeus can go from super smooth to super gnarly. Once you get the Mod Index on the go you can get this ring modulator / crunchy sound which works great on most things, but especially sine waves. It's a great filter let down only by the ov...

Re: Recording technique: building songs from recording euro samples / loops

Thanks dude! Your avatar is cool too ;) Yeah slices can be really useful. I find that I get more mileage out of them since there's more to work with from the start. You can rearrange a drum loop into a completely different rhythm or sequence individual hits, or you can take a melodic sample and bre...

Re: Recording technique: building songs from recording euro samples / loops

I would highly recommend spending a few afternoons learning basic music theory. Knowing how chord progressions are put together, how to fit a melody to a harmony, how to read the Nashville system, etc is really really worth it for any type of musician. Sure, you can trial and error a cool progressi...

Re: Module to change speed of CV modulation signal?

Thanks for all the feedback everybody! I didn't expect the question to invoke so much feedback, and I've really been enjoying reading it all. Can Pam’s square up and sync to an input wave and then send out divided/multiplied variations? Perhaps if possible reframe your search for a CV generator with...

Module to change speed of CV modulation signal?

Does a module exist that can slow down an LFO / modulation signal after it's left the modulation source, rather than changing the speed at source? I could effectively then have multiple versions of the same modulation signal running at different rates. I guess the principle I'm looking for is simila...

Re: Recording technique: building songs from recording euro samples / loops

I've been using an octatrack to sample sounds. Sounds usually fall into a few categories for me: drones/pads, SFX, arps, percussion on shots, loops, scales. If I want to do something melodic, I'll sample a patch for a few octaves of a scale so I can play back slices of the sample instead of messing...

Re: Recording technique: building songs from recording euro samples / loops

I'd just add to that that I'm a very music-theory driven person even with my synth, I use quantizers on almost every patch and spend time tuning oscillators and stuff so I don't have to hassle getting samples to work together later. Thanks for the feedback! I'm already labelling stuff with the type...

Re: Recording technique: building songs from recording euro samples / loops

Organizing this stuff is one thing that being a chef helped me with. Mise en place - everything in it's place. Every minute you spend building organization for stuff is two minutes you don't spend dicking around later when inspiration is striking, much like preparing all your ingredients before you...
