Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

Would it be possible to let the new random ranges feature operate in a relative mode rather than providing absolute values? Like if I set the note to C-5 and then subsequently pick the ±10% random range, the C-5 would act as an offset for the randomization. I think this would greatly increase its f...

Re: Rossum Control Forge - Talk me out of one

I find kind of abrupt shapes you can make on the CF exciting Tetrapad + Tete in voltages mode will get you there, and you will get 8 CV outputs instead of one. One of the most satisfying approaches for me personally is to have 16 randomised voltage banks all sequenced via looper by "playing" the te...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

If I were to guess, I think the issue might be that, internally, current loop start/end positions are updated at a different rate compared to that of the playhead position, hence in some cases, the sampler might suddenly find itself out of the loop if its end moved in front of current playhead posit...

Re: Can someone talk me out of getting a rainmaker?

Rainmaker covers a number of very specific use cases and unless you need one of those there are other modules out there that are cheaper/smaller/more playable. I feed mine with drum mix all the time and use the delay section as a sequencer to add a lot of groove to otherwise pretty static and sparse...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

Is it possible to multiply x2 or more the clock out of nerdseq? I use a short click sample on track/output 8 to drive a part of my system with *2 clock. This way you can have any division / multiplication of the clock imaginable, swung clock, random triggers etc. You can also time the clock changes...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

I find this scenario to be unreliable as well. I was hoping to use Planar to change both window (loop length) and position (loop start) at the same time, but A8 tends to escape the loop and play the tail of the sample if I move the window fast enough. Squarewave into the trig input did the trick for...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

You can record while deleting the old values if you hold the table button in the note column while recording. So both worlds can be used, record and fill into the additional sequence and record + overwrite. Does that work recording into the mod column and preserve the notes? Actually one little cor...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

I don’t think so, I think it will only record changes but in case you didn’t know, the modulation value you see on a row or step is the value for that step AND all subsequent steps until the cursor reaches a step with a different value entered. The cv and mod values are “held” if that makes sense. ...

Re: Nerdsynth NerdSEQ - eurorack tracker/sampler

Quick question re record mode: is it possible to record values into CV or MOD column even if the voltage I'm trying to record doesn't move/change? I just set up a simple pattern, set up one of the record inputs to MOD n, started the pattern and enabled recording. When I patched a constant offset vol...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Morpheus Filter

Yes, there is a number of cubes in the Standard Filters list that do simpler filtering of various sorts. Check the manual, they're pretty well described there.

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Morpheus Filter

I just went through all presets where it clips and set distortion cv gain to 0 and/or distortion level to –30db — this made it much safer for me to use in headphones. I wish it didn't fall into runaway feedback that easily though, there are not that many cubes where it actually sounds pleasing inste...

Re: Intellijel Tetrapad

Does anyone else experience an issue with syncing Tete looper to the external trigger when Tete is also clocked externally via clock input? I have set this up as described in the manual, with trig input set to Looper*, Looper sync on, Looper wait off, Loop length 1. I run 16th note clock into the cl...

My favourite use lately was running both oscillators into the ring mod with pitches and wavetable positions controlled by planar. Ace noise machine.

Re: Drum Machines for use with a Modular

I use Ladik M-218 module as my gate-to-MIDI converter. You can send up to 6 MIDI notes simultaneously using its 6 gate inputs, and for each of them, you can configure MIDI channel, note number, velocity sensitivity. Pretty much every drum machine that accepts MIDI will work just fine with it. There ...

Re: Intellijel Shapeshifter: Tips, Tricks, and useful things

What would be your favourite wavetable banks and corresponding patches you use with Shapeshifter? I noticed that I'm using several wavetable banks almost exclusively and I find very little use for the rest of them, so I wanted to broaden my horizon and get some inspiration. I'll start with myself: B...

Re: Today my small discovery was...

You can play separate notes into the comb resonator section of Rainmaker and have them sustained and layered one on top of the other. The trick is to set the comb length long enough (I've set mine to 3 seconds) and feedback just shy of self-oscillation. Set the number of taps and distribution to tas...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

I guess Richard Devine comes pretty close to Autechre in terms of crazy sound design chops, so perhaps it's worth having a look at how he does what he does. I've seen some 100% modular stuff from him that's pretty wild. He literally has half the modules that exist. The interesting thing about autec...

Design-driven producers are a subject of "The user method" book by Jeff Schwarting — he argues that successful products come, more often than not, from from people who desperately want to satisfy their own needs and existing solutions just wont cut it, if they exist at all. He argues that quality of...

RYTM and Alphabase don’t have ext midi tracks do they? Wishful thinking?
Elektron added sequencer midi out in some of the recent firmware updates, afaik. You won't get separate midi tracks though, it just outputs whatever sequencer does to the existing tracks, if I understand it right.
