sell it, then save a little more and buy a Super-6
or if you want vintage I think the JX-3P is a much better synth... add the kiwi upgrade and the midi controller you preffer and you have a killer poly
JX3P is beast.

Re: Worth trading a Juno 106 for a Jupiter xm?

Yeah well, I am not a huge fan of all that ACB/DCB stuff although I am quite enjoying TR-8 and D-50 (Roland Cloud version). If you run a TR-8 or D-50 through some funky A/D / D/A or analog filters you can get extra magic. I don't see a point going for a boutique though if besides minor differences i...

Re: What can possibly go wrong?

Think back to your days building your first rack. What problems did you encounter? What did you do that you now consider a mistake? Did you buy modules that turned out to be a waste of space? Leave out something crucial? It's not a confessional, these things happen to everybody. For instance, I wou...

Re: Juno-6/60 + JX3P with programmer combo.

No Juno, but heavily modified my JX-3P after restoring it. Details are around here in a thread named 'Roland JX-3P noisy VCA'. I did the Resonance adjust, made a true bypass of the Global HPF which I hated, and revised all the signal path of the synth itself. I also have a switch for better handlin...

Re: The sociology of dust on gear

I have noticed that "working musicians", by the which I mean those who produce music in an active, prolific and often (but not always) professional way, as opposed to a dilettante's way or a hobbyist or a collector (nothing wrong with all these, of course), do not especially care very much about du...

She’s a beauty. Funny thinking about it. If you refer to synths as to having feminine vibes to them you end up with a harem one way or the other. :hmm: :despair:

but maybe spend some time with the jx3p and learn its strengths for what your trying to accomplish before parachuting out to get another unit. Good point. The polyphonic sequencer might be an ideal tool for me. As for getting another unit... too late. D-50 with expac. cards is on its way too. :hihi...

Re: Juno-6/60 + JX3P with programmer combo.

the jx3p has a fool proof polyphonic step-sequencer that can be triggered Exactly - trigger it with a trigger sequencer, not just a regular clock stream. For the PG200 - search out something like the DT200 clone from DTronics etc. A JX3P (or MKS30) without a controller is plain sad. Do you think so...

Re: Juno-6/60 + JX3P with programmer combo.

I remember reading an interview with Chris Barbosa where he said his aunt or granny lent him the money to buy a JX3P and it was then used for most of the sounds on this classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGPnCfpen2I I love mine, very varied synth. It's not too painful to program without the P...

Re: Juno-6/60 + JX3P with programmer combo.

I've got two 3Ps, (one stock with PG200, second with Kiwi mod and controller pre-ordered). Love them. Take a look through this for some neat things you can do with the 3P http://www.florian-anwander.de/roland_jx3p/jx3p_mod.htm . I've seen people bypass the highpass filter for better low end, and al...

I made better sounds on my JX3P the afternoon I returned home with a PG200 than the years I’d had it before. Definitely, definitely get a controller!
Yes. On its way with the synth. I doubt it would be convenient to program new sounds on it without one.

Re: Juno-6/60 + JX3P with programmer combo.

Yes I have them both but not the PG200. They can sound extremely similar but both can do stuff the other can't. Juno has the arpeggiator, has a bit more bass, PWM, juicier but noisier chorus (at least on mine) and most of all the nice accessible front panel. JX has two oscillators so you can do a l...

Hey. My GAS knows no bounds and I got a JX3P... I am wondering if anyone else here has both Juno-6/60 and JX3P. If so then how do you utilize them together? Which mods are the best for these two beauties? Any special tricks on the JX3P? :guinness:
