Re: The future of R*S 4x4 modules?

Is there a published spec on 4x4 panel sizing? In case DIY folk would want to design a custom panel? Yeah, this is something I'd like to get too, with a clear spec on PCB sizes, PSU, connectors etc (not hard to do but...) I think that would give a clear message, something like 'open to DIY'. But is...

Glad you got it sorted!
Maybe old Excel version did not support .ods files (yet).

Happy building (and should you encounter any problem, don't hesitate to create a build thread)!

Re: [4U/LW] Alan & Friends, a take on the Turing Machine

Hey, What do you mean? It is an .ods file, so you'll need Libreoffice to open it: equivalent to Excel but in libre/open-source version. Should be available in all classic operating systems. I don't know if you can open it with other spreadsheet programs but I think it is supported by other programs ...

Re: Luxury nanners. Best High Class Plugs, Jacks, Cables for Banana Boats

Not so recently, I came across Schutzinger gear. They have really nice banana plugs (rounded, great colors etc) but I've never seen them in real life. They also have some without colors. They are quite expensive though. Some products are available at RS. I wanted to test them for a while but they ar...

Re: [4U/LW] Alan & Friends, a take on the Turing Machine

Never tried it but it should work. CD4XXX are able to handle +15V without any problem. If I understand Buchla well, there also the range of inputs/outputs. Triggers out are simple gates at +5V (so no Buchla-style gate/trigger thing) but it may work with some other Buchla modules? Should not be hard ...

Re: [4U/LW] Alan & Friends, a take on the Turing Machine

Glad to see them finally available! It took quite some time but in the end, here they are. Thanks to synthcube for this. Hoping to see videos, pics or patches featuring Alan & Friends in a near future! EDIT: yes, what cygmu said. You'll need to design your own panel to accommodate it with Buchla for...

Yes, AFAIK amber are the closest to orange you can have.
In addition to that, I use some orange-ish LEDs that give a nice warm color.

There's no such thing as "wasting time" when experimenting, but you already know that, right?
For instance, now you know a bit better how to read datasheets (so do I :hihi: ).

There was also the uStep by Intellijel as Module Module.
I had it aside for a long time and installed it recently. Very useful to gate the x0x I built, as it is possible to set the length of the gates.
Ah, nice! That's an oddity. Didn't even know that Intellijel did such things in the past!

Re: State of Buchla-compatible world

Yeah, he did that as a first product and then decided to do his own format. The K4816 was also problematic for the company as it injected noise into the quiet ground. He ended up sending everyone a PCB on pigtails that removed the noise. I doubt that there was much in the way of profit left. He als...

By the way, I wonder about the number of people using 4U/LW. It seems there are more users but it may be me, is it increasing?

[4U/LW] Func, a simple multiplier

Hi there, So I just finished another module for LW format. It is quite basic, don't expect crazy or elegant circuitry. It is based on the AD633 analog multiplier, which I had around for quite some time ("borrowed" at school, eh). Only a bit of wiring is required (switch) but other than that, it is a...

That is exactly what we are doing with all of our own screenprinted panels. The ones you see here are extra stock from Electric Music Store, and some prototype panels. All new panels we make will state "MEMS and Associates". By the way, are you planning an update on your website anytime soon? It's ...

Re: I'm paralyzed by aesthetic choices

I wouldn't worry too much about knobs. That is maybe the easiest thing to swap if you ever want to change it. However, bananas colours are a tough choice. On my side I realized that no color scheme is universal: some modules look great in some schemes, while some others do not. So in the end I chose...

The one up top and on THC's NVO is more like 90 degree travels. <--Which is what made it interesting. The joystick in the Euro Choices module also has 90 degree axes. Those are metal framed and I have a few. And can get more. Ah, I actually meant to ask the question here a while ago, but where do y...

Re: v2164 linear VCA problem

Ah, that's clever. I'm quite happy to discover many ways to multiply signals with the same chip: the previous one used selective mixing, but this one use phase-cancellation. That makes the circuit much simpler, of course, but I can't see any drawbacks compared to the "selective-mixing" one. Maybe th...

Re:

I've been reading this thread for 2 days, great stuff here! So, I'm trying to understand how to get a 4Q multiplier without using the (notoriously expensive) AD633. Maybe I'm just complicating things because it is really a stupid circuit, but I'd need 2 of them, so that's steep. I guess this is the ...
