Re: Using a mixer to balance signals for long cable runs?

What kind of turntable, phono preamp, and main mixer do you already have? It depends on how "audiophile" you want to get and the quality of your TT setup. If you've got a really nice TT rig already maybe you wouldn't want to run it through a Mackie? There are relatively inexpensive phono a...

Re: Xaoc Devices Katowice

Any thoughts on Katowice vs the upcoming Zagrzeb VCF? I'm aware of the architectural differences but both modules are pretty similar in that they can split a signal into separate frequency bands in true stereo.

Re: Precision HW EQ

Speck EQF 810 feature set looks perfect if you need mono: internal PSU, HP/LP filters, 4 bands, Low/Mid band can go down to 40 hz to overlap with Low band, switchable Jensen transformer. Haven't tried it but the previous Speck EQ has a very good reputation for surgical EQ.

Re: FH-2 v1.14 - MIDI Start vs MIDI Clock / Clock generator first beat bug

Looks fixed on v1.14.1beta, thank you! Re-ran the same test and first FH-2 clock gen pulse occurs ~350 microseconds after first MIDI Clock so downbeat is tight now. One follow up question: When pressing stop and Clk: DIN goes to Clk: None the tempo display reverts to the preset tempo value. I'm alwa...

Re: Disting EX MIDI pin connection to Intellijel 7U case MIDI

When did you get your Intellijel case? That diagram is from 2017 and it's possible they changed the board/pinout since then. There is def a v2 revision for the Intellijel audio jacks board so perhaps the MIDI board changed too. Do you own a multimeter/continuity tester? If so it should be pretty eas...

Re: FH-2 v1.14 - MIDI Start vs MIDI Clock / Clock generator first beat bug

The ACME's run signal is a bit odd maybe cause it has a one bar pre-roll to allow negative clock delays (still not sure why it's sent so early as 1 to 9ms seems more typical). Is it possible to get a FH-2 update patch?

Re: Expert Sleepers FH-2 'factotum'

I'm having trouble getting a clean first downbeat from the FH-2's clock gens when MIDI clocked via SND ACME. Should the first beat occur on MIDI Start message or first MIDI Clock tick?

Re: 10+ years of changes in Eurorack.

Hey, old-timers: so Doepfer invented Eurorack, but I’m guessing that it took another successful manufacturer to enable it to really take off into the free-for-all it is today. Is this true? If so, who was that manufacturer? (Or manufacturers?) Speaking strictly from a dance music point of view: Int...

Re: 10+ years of changes in Eurorack.

Speaking of, I remember Intellijel first coming on to the scene, I think their 1st module was the 2hp Buff Mult. If I recall Intellijel came on the scene with the Mind Meld which was a 3rd party expander/jumper switch module for the Livewire Vulcan modulator. Make Noise had humble beginnings too.. ...

However, day before yesterday, I finally did get around to testing the Aux busses and noticed that they do not work on channels 1-12. That was disconcerting enough, but then I noticed that channel 5 is completely out, and that's definitely something I specifically checked when I received the mixer....

Re: Advice: Integrating Playdifferently Model:One with Ableton

I will just record the stereo out or at some point get a Dsub audio interface. Did you look at the pinout of the Dsub connectors in the manual? It doesn't really give you anything different than what is already on the back of the mixer (with the exception of balanced inputs for the channels instead...

Re: Advice: Integrating Playdifferently Model:One with Ableton

Take a look at the Allen & Heath Xone96 - it doesn't have channel direct outs either but it has a built in integrated USB audio interface so you can record/playback the channels individually and the master mix. I think it would be more conducive to what you're trying to do. Make sure to study th...

Re: Advice: Integrating Playdifferently Model:One with Ableton

Model One doesn't have direct outs for recording the individual channels as it's primarily a DJ style mixer. You could record 3 stereo channels by burning your Aux 1, Aux 2, and Cue B but that would really hamper your FX usage.
