Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

. correct in that 9 o'clock is the mid-point. Per Rick's comment on the Structure Fb group: "at the time the limitation here was the knobs, as typically you can order knobs with a rotation to match the orientation, but for these knobs, if I wanted that, I had to order 10,000 of them and this was th...

Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

Here's a puzzle I have about the module-- all the pots seem to be centered around 9:00 rather than 12:00 like every other module I've ever seen. Anyone know what the thinking process was behind that?

Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

Success! Here's a quick clip of what it's starting to look like. I think I may try other sorts of rotational motions as it looks better from some angles than others. Maybe just around the Z axis with a little wobble of the other two axes driven by input audio or something... https://youtu.be/fqBRX5x...

Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

Oh dude, you are missing out on the most important page! Select the 3D node and hit the PARAMS button from the main display page to get to the PARAMS page with the real nitty gritty of algorithm parameters. This is also where you can disable the EFX (scroll down to Initial Bypass State). Or you can...

Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

3D nodes are fed by two inputs. They have a frag to set which one is the texture but there's also a setting further down to pick which one is the background. GEN1 IMG1 3D EFX1 So you would pick input1ToShape to feed it the GEN and then set Background Mode to Input2 to feed that the IMG. Then you st...

Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

Been having a lot of fun with Structure-- this thing is pretty deep! Played around with 3D, though had to go through a couple of gyrations to get it right. Problem is, what I want to use for creation is ZBrush, but I haven't quite figured out how to get the UVs and Normals right from there. So what ...

. hello, I'm james - one of the devs @ ET. We also take questions here (when I remember to check - or just send me a direct message) or via email via the About Us link on erogenous-tones.com Thanks for the response James. I was bemoaning not having a Structure in front of me to look at, but that's ...

Re: Erogenous Tones - STRUCTURE

This module looks incredibly cool-- seems to have most of the features I've been looking for. But the documentation is kind of weak and their site directs questions to Facebook which I don't do, and I won't be starting that for this... The NODE Dictionary section of the User Guide seems to lack any ...

Re: Hemisphere for Ornament and Crime

Not sure why, but I've seen it periodically with at least one of mine. Less than 50/50, for me it's fairly rare. I suspect it could stand to have some kind of power up process that holds the CPU reset line low for a moment as it's booting, or something to that effect. Sometimes power supplies fluctu...

Re: Complex Arpeggiator Roundup

Well, because if I wanted to touch a keyboard I'd just play piano instead of fooling with all these cables hahahahahaha. No seriously, I REALLY like the idea of generating complex musical structures in a programmatic way with single-note sequencers (current fav being my NI Mimetic Digitalis) playin...

Don't have a teletype on my rack but I'm considering purchasing one because of this solutions it adds to a setup, atm I'm checking the tutorials from the monome's web and posibly I'll purchase one with an ER-301 if I'm luckly enough, so don't hesitate to post any conclusion here I'll be pretty inte...

Re: Mutable Instruments Marbles Random Sampler

Hi folks. I wanted to get a 2nd Marbles, but decided that I'd rather get 2 new modules instead. So I got a Grids to duplicate and expand on the "t" side of Marbles. Now I'm looking for a random sequencer/quantizer module to duplicate and possibly expand on the "x" side of Marbles. Any suggestions? ...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

that's cool If you please could share some of this would be very interesting ;) Could be a little while before I get to trying it, but my thinking is: Each node would have a small set of parameters as 16-bit values in the pattern buffer... Depending on how many outputs each node would have, there'd...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

just related with markov chains yesterday I saw this, it's a simple approach but seems cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvnHzsNJ92k This is pretty interesting-- seems to me you could stage the equivalent of up to 8 of these nodes with a Monome Teletype... I may just have to try that. You could ...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

See, this is what I'm talking about when I see it would be helpful to start defining your use of terms to assist others in understanding. What does "*filtered*" even mean in this context? One way I think of randomness is the way it's talked about in conjunction with evolution and natural selection....

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

Let's assume that Autechre use a patch that fires kicks on a 4/4 pattern, with a probability of the kick actually firing at 40%. Can we predict exactly when the kick will sound? No. Is it random? No, it will sound on a 4/4 pattern, with a 40% chance. Or let's assume that a sequence of notes is bein...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

I just wanted to point out that randomness and probability are not the same thing, and should not be used interchangeably, contrary to previous posts. Even more so if we are to discuss specifics about their use as tools, it would be prudent to make some distinctions. These are usually distinguishab...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

If I was releasing popular music I don’t think I’d admit to randomly generated melodies or rhythms. I don’t use them anyway but if I did I wouldn’t admit to it, lest it hurt sales. And I think it probably would hurt sales. Seems to me people would have found the music from hearing it first, and buy...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

SB - For start, the word 'random' -- it takes the shit right out of me. There's absolutely nothing random about what we do. There might be a lot of number crunching going on but there's nothing random in there. And the fact that they are so arrogant about the word "random" says all you need to know...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

Knowing the means of production or the processes involved in creation in a piece of music can have a profound impact on how it is appreciated, even if there are always multiple routes to the same end product. If Jackson Pollock had carefully applied paint to a canvas, his works wouldn't be half as ...

Re: Autechre - recreate on Eurorack?

It's probably best at this point to recommend reading what Autechre have to say about this themselves: https://www.soundonsound.com/people/autechre The important bit for me is: this "It seems that for a lot of people, if they hear something that doesn't sound regular, they assume it's random. If li...

Re: What Eurorack modules are good for Space Rock?

You're probably going to want the analog basics, if something like Hawkwind is what you've in mind. You could get a bunch of individual modules, but if you're just starting out you might want to cover the basics at once and then add whatever specialty modules you want in the mix-- start with somethi...
