BIA driven by grids and a Gatsby. Minimal techno improv for days.

Re: Roast my rack

I have links, and it’s awesome, but you get one adder, with no real control, so I definitely consider something else alongside. The adder in Links will be dedicated to using the Doboz TSNM to transpose Marbles, so I'm thinking that for such a simple application it'll be good enough. Yep, sounds lik...

Re: Roast my rack

I hear good things about the VPME d43 adder, as an alt to the doepfer “ imprecision” ( getting quoted by foghorn has made my day)

Re: Roast my rack

Plaits into rings into beads? How original. That imprecision adder sucks, you have no proper lfos, nowhere near enough vcas, no wavefolder and no logic. What about a complex oscillator, performance controllers? It’s mostly digital, so it will sound shit. Hard fail. :sarcasm: :sstorm: :foul: :hihi:

Re: What do you feed your BIA, especially after midnight?

Busy Euclidean pattern to trigger. Less busy Euclidean patterns via Ladik Gatsby, or envelopes, and attenuators into various modulation inputs. The Gatsby is a trig to gate generator, so I can dial in modulation in a binary state ( on, or off) and tweak the length to work with the pattern or timing....

Great thread. I’m gonna be a boring normie. E370/352. Never leaving my rack, ever. 370 = morph +cloud 4 note chords with a little mod into everything…just delicious. As exotic as you like once you start loading tables.

Re: What do you do with a Clock Divider (that you don't do with a sequencer)?

Feed it Euclidean pattern, and pull various divisions out to various percussions. ( or voices). Kinda like the point above. Feed it resets and split them out to various sequencers to get 4x 1 bar over 1x 4 bar in sync ( or whatever)

Re: Mutable Braids V/Oct slew problem

Only two other ideas from me…does Renaissance have a slew param? Assuming you’ve checked that though… Second, check the build round the Voct jack? I don’t do diy, and I’m an electronics moron but somewhere in my head I remember that you can make a filter by accident if a resistor connects to ground?...

Re: E520 Hyperion: OK, so there will be reverbs after all

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I’m sure some of the degenerates here would be up for that, but it wouldn’t be my cup of tea for sure Just would like to comment that the IR files are standard .WAV format and except for the max file length, the convolution operation will take place regardless [COU...

Re: E520 Hyperion: OK, so there will be reverbs after all

I get that but what would happen if I resampled an IR and loaded it? Pitch shifted IR? The end result would "sound different", but not in the way you are expecting Forgive my ignorance of all things DSP, but is it not possible to trade tail length against quality if the issue is memory? I’d certain...

Re: Sequencer like 960 or SQ1 active step, but lower hp?

Look at a few of the Ladik s-18x. Pretty versatile, does most of what you want right off the bat, maybe all of it with some patching. Sounds like you want a 180, a 181, and 2 x 183s by the sounds of it. They all chain to each other…the 180 is like the main unit, the others are various expanders. Al...

Re: Suggestions for House and Hard Techno Modules

I focus on these genres, kinda sorta. Braids in fold mode with some timbre envelope for bass, and plaits in chord mode ( m7) is a staple combo. I find pico drums to be a very efficient set up for basic drums. I know it’s a bit of a cheat/ shortcut, but they allow me to concentrate on the other voice...

Ach, so subjective. I love blades, someone else called it boring. Neither of us is wrong, though. If you have a way to demo it, it has to be on the list, no doubt. It’s not dual, but so cheap, you could buy two...Doepfer a-120. Not multimode, though you get into that with all that fancy phased patch...

I didn’t sufficiently research how different manufacturers handle pitch voltages, starting with a m32 (-5/+5 ) and a pico voice ( (0/+10.)That was a head scratcher for a while.

And cases. Yeah, the 6u/84 got sold on pretty quick.....

Just about everything by Ladik uses very little juice. MI use a bit more but always less than I’d expect.
