Re: Befaco Lich

Is there any way to make a looper out of the Lich? It has enough SDRAM to store up to 43 seconds of raw floating point data, divide that by 2 if you want a stereo looper. Or longer time is possible if you write in C++ and use integer format with lower bitdepth. There are at least 5 looper patches i...

Re: Befaco Lich

Ported some zero-delay/trapezoidal integration filter codes for Lich: This looks very nice! I've checked out your fast math functions, some of them could probably be precomputed and stored in static LUTs. Those are stored outside of patch, so can be shared between multiple patches. Internal flash s...

Re: What language/manufacturer to use for a digital module with a processor?

It's possible to use something like CircuitPython or MicroPython for firmware. But it's unlikely that you'll find someone who would be making custom hardware for you. Well it's not really impossible, it's just that you probably won't be happy to pay an adequate amount for this.

Re: Daisy versus OWL?

Yeah, Martin decided that it's better not to add non-Rebeltech hardware in official repository. OwlProgram (the part that is used for building patches) could start using upstream repo eventually, it didn't require a lot of changes. But OpenWare (the firmware part) was changed considerably to support...

There's also this port of OWL to Daisy:

I've made it. A few more releases are expected this year.

Re: Oopsy = Electrosmith Daisy via Max/MSP gen~

I would call them "subpatches" - that would keep top level "patch" definition more or less similar to OWL patch. I guess that they would also add some form of patch (firmware) switching in libDaisy eventually as part of QSPI storage support. But that would require either using a read-only storage or...

Re: Oopsy = Electrosmith Daisy via Max/MSP gen~

Ok, so I know that there would be support for USB MIDI in libDaisy, I've discussed that with Stephen recently a bit on forum. But there's no USB host on any Daisy based hardware. It's possible to create a new device that has it, because necessary MCU PINs are exposed. That would still require a few ...

Re: Oopsy = Electrosmith Daisy via Max/MSP gen~

ADC inputs are sampled once per audio block (48 samples by default on Daisy) rather than per sample, are more noisy and less precise compared to audio codec inputs. I can hardly consider them an adequate substitute for those reasons. Especially for patches where I don't need some codec inputs for an...

Re: Oopsy = Electrosmith Daisy via Max/MSP gen~

Ok, since Graham asked for corrections, I will make a few: 1. Daisy doesn't have USB MIDI (yet). OWL has it, now it even has USB audio support. 2. Daisy Patch doesn't have I2C port (Daisy itself does, but those pins are configured for other functions on Patch) 3. There are 2 generations of OWL board...

Re: Befaco Lich

There's been a big OWL firmware release that enables using your device as USB audio interface among other things and adds support for accessing OWL flash storage among other things. Full announcement at https://community.rebeltech.org/t/new-firmware-openware-v21-0/1555 . A summary from Martin's post...

Re: Befaco Lich

It's not a hard limit, but an option when compiling firmware. So you can build it with more patch slots if you think you need them, but official firmware builds for all OWL devices are using 40 patch slots. But it can't be changed other than by building firmware yourself. I think that your question ...

Re: re: Befaco Lich

Well, I do not see any real documentation. The manual leaves the most substantial questions completely open. Sample questions (regarding pure data): * Which of the 256 different pd versions are supported? * I wrote a couple of pd patches in the past – now which steps exactly will I have to undertak...

Re: Befaco Lich

I know this will be dependent on the algorithm but I'm guessing the processor is up to the task of handling audio rate modulations? For instance, on the harmonic oscillator, it looks like IN R is unused. Could that be used for audio rate linear FM in addition to v/oct on IN L? Actually, that patch ...

Re: Qu-Bit Mixology HELP!!

There's no jumpers on my module. Actually, there's no headers for jumpers there at all - some components have longer than usual legs, but they're not meant to be used with jumpers. And there are places were you could solder headers for programmer. But this header must be from something else.

FH-2 inputs could work this way, but variable-level gates/triggers aren't common in Eurorack, and might be difficult to generate. It's difficult only if you don't have a spare VCA in your rack. The idea is to use a slow EG (typically a tempo synced LFO or envelope) that would change trigger amplitu...

Is it possible with current firmware or something that would ...

Well I can at least confirm that USB mouse worked both directly and through the hub. I've found 2 PS3 gamepads from Sony and Logitech and none of them worked, same goes to an old Logitech Attack 3 joystick I had. Guess that means none of them are USB HID compliant, so that's a bit unfortunate. One o...

This is awesome news! But I'm curious, does using USB hubs introduce any noticable latency? Would it make sense to use multiple FH1 modules to lower it?
