I use http://www.4pcb.com/trace-width-calculator.html it has a 25c ambient base with a 10c degree rise I dont really feel I need fatter traces for 2oz copper at 2A. 55mil is plenty here I think. But once I get it on my DC load on my bench and will check ripple and temps under load but I dont expect ...

Yep, the trace width of all my large power traces is wider than needed for 3A at 1oz by a couple of mil ;) I'm safe for 2A at 1oz, double safe at 2oz. 3A at 1oz requires a minimum of 53.8mil. My traces are 55mil. 2.5A requires 41mil. I'm good there for prototypeing at seeed (I think seeed is itead.....

Designing my own eurorack power pcb
Being bitten by the eurorack bug I was looking at kits and parts, realised I have loads of ic's and caps and fets around I could do my own power pcb. I made this design to use the 6pin molex to mate with synthrotek distribution boards. I have two current revisions, one has two outputs of 12/1A, -12/...

Then it doesn't need to be planned for in the design of the communication between modules. Since it was brought up about SPI for data comms, a 5v SPI cant talk to 3.3v SPI directly etc. When designing a standard, the less ambiguities the better. Saying lets all communicate over SPI and one module i...

Forget 3.3V, if you're putting a jack on a module and selling that module to a wiggler, then the circuit attached to that jack had better be +-12V tolerant, because you know that's what someone is going to plug into it some day. I was talking digital logic chip voltage, not the actual signal per se.

Id say, dont use spi, use rs485 instead. You also dont want to be propagating clock signals unless its super super slow. clock signals need SHORT runs or you start hitting ringing and you need to learn about nasty complex stuff like how your clock signal turns into a transmission line and active ter...
