Mini Filter Bank

This is my foray into filter banks, I didn't want a large 12+hp module in my rack so I made a much smaller 8hp filter bank. I like how it can shape the sound in subtle and sometimes not so subtle ways. From the description on You Tube: Mini filter bank with 4 Band-Pass filters with frequencies fixed...

Does it have to be a patch cord?
Could something like this work?

Mazzatron X-1 Filter

Does any one have any experience with the Mazzatron X-1 Filter?
I googled and couldn't find any audio samples, even their web site doesn't seem to have any.
Can get one pretty cheap compared to other filters.

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

Yes, after I edit the buffers in my schematic and redo the board lay out. Hi acidblue how is your project going? Sloooow, real life issues are getting in my way. AC went kaput at my office/Lab/residence, landlord has to hire a crane to replace the compressor on the roof, don't know when I''l be abl...

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

Your output stage on the triangle will make the triangle output go from about -1V to -8V. Is that what you want? If you're trying to get to 10Vpp, centered around zero (which I'm guessing you do?), why not just put a voltage divider at the input to a regular unity gain buffer? That's exactly what I...

Manual for Mr Blue VCO??

I just bought a used Blue Lantern Mr Blue VCO,it sounds nice but there are some things on the VCO that need a little explaining like the PCV and MOD inputs plus there are 2 trimmers on the front that are not marked also the LFO input doesn't do much, can anyone explain? I searched the Blue Lantern s...

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

I was trying for +/-5V but that was based on the assumption that the outputs from the chip were +/-10V--now know thats its different. What would you recommend for 'scaling down'? I suppose I could use volt dividers then unity gain buffers but wouldn't I loose the neg side ? EDIT: Just did some tests...

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

I did try a 9V regulator and got higher frequencies just nothing below 737Hz.

In the next version of my design I think I will have the pots go from +9V to -9V instead of +5V and 0V.
In the mean time I could kludge in a Neg offset like you suggested.
Maybe like this:

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

Been scoping after buffers, but I'll try before when I find the time. Using 0V to +5V from the pots, haven't tried -5V to+5V. "Are they still made?" do you mean the chips? Yes they are still being made by Hearn Morley AFAIK. EDIT: I whipped out my Pico scope and took some screen shots. Here are pics...

Are the outputs 0-20v or -10 to +10v.
The 'Typical Connection Diagram" just says 20vpp

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

I kludge in the 1m resistor and that did help. The triangle output is a bit better but turning the triangle shape trimmer doesn't seem to do a whole lot. The triangle wave is a bit lop sided--see pic below. the out put is still low but not as low as before Also the square wave is distorted but it so...

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

I found a mistake on my schematic.
There's suppose to be a 1M resistor between the triangle trim pot and pin one of the HM VCO chip.
I'll kludge one in and see if that makes a difference, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow, I gotta get some sleep.

Is the enclosure metal?
Maybe you can use the enclosure as the heat sink.

Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

I just put together and tested a PCB for the Hearn Morley VCO. Unfortunately the only output that sounds decent is the Saw. The triangle is barley audible and that's after I turn the level way up. The square is ok but out put is low, not as low as the triangle but still low. Plus the lowest frequenc...

Design question on DIY eurorack

Im in the designing stages of building my own eurorack case, I'll be using 3/8 plywood. It's gonna be 4U, 62HP and was wondering if 1/8th" of play enough? Going with the rails from Synthrotek: https://store.synthrotek.com/3U-Eurorack-Case-Brackets_p_793.html both the 3U and 1U for a total of 4U. Bee...
