I have a spare crystal so could replace it - I presume it’s not polarised but there’s a dot on the PCB ??
Yes, crystals are not polarized, that dot is unnecessary. You can program the STM without crystal, so it might be the source for your issue.

Scope U25 pin 8/10/12 &send midi and you should see something like this if the STM is fine.

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

Keyboard input works only from cv and gate inputs (but doesn’t give any recognisable output from OSC1 & OSC2, but noise works OK). Removing the cv and gate jacks to enable midi control does not work - no midi operation. All DIP switches are off for the default settings. I have D14 permanently lit a...

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

Ok. If you used arturia keystep as a cv&gate source, connected to Progues cv&gate jacks, it bypasses the midi section (stm & dac) and then you know that the issue isn't midi2cv related.

I’m concerned I may have cooked the STM32 (and possibly the DAC) as I had a lot of trouble soldering the STM32 and clearing a couple of solder bridges, but it did program OK without any issue.
Hi! Did you notice that the DAC IC is pin1=bottom-right, not top-left ?

Yes, the Midi indicator LED will blink for 20-30sec during the update.

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

How do I update the firmware? Just load and send the SYSEX file from MIDI-OX? What do the DIP switches do? Program the MIDI channel, and... ? The PCB-A (pre-soldered SMTs) version can be updated via sysex. The PCB only needs to be initially programmed with the STM programmer. Download this and read...

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

Help!! Does anyone in the U.K. have a spare Bourns trimmer for VR1 type 3214X-1-104E (100k) or know of a suitable alternative that’s readily available in the U.K.? I just soldered mine (the first of the trimmers) with a little difficulty, fresh out of the Digi-Key packet and with the correct part n...

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

It seems the original BOM is missing C100 - C105 inclusive, which looking at the schematics are 100nF ceramics. Lucky I purchased a load of spares. The BOM currently on the JSI website is correct but has the same issue date as the version I originally downloaded, so if anyone is confused by the mis...

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

I know that the programming header is mentioned in the BOM, but is it really needed for the PCB-A version? Sounds like it isn't, and I didn't order it, but just want to be sure. The pre-stuffed boards are already programmed so future updates can be performed by sysex over MIDI, so no it is not nece...

Re: [GROUP BUY] FATAR synthesizer keybeds-synthCube

If you get an "EU link" and we EU people could buy them before they go across the sea, that would interest me. Paying shipping and taxes/VAT twice because of EU->USA->EU makes no sense. Meanwhile, newgroove.it inside EU will be better choice.

Anyway, great that you are doing this group buy!

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

I'm thinking of making some ends that overlap just a couple mm into the inside and attach with flat head socket head screws like Pro2021. You could probably get away with simply adding wooden sides to the bottom plate. I haven't tried this so I can't be sure if it will look satisfying enough. Certa...

...I traced the dimensions in Illustrator and will guess that the radii are ~4.5mm on the bottom rear, ~5.5mm on the bottom front, and ~5.0mm on top (certainly don't go with those!). The 90-degree corner is R5mm radius and the two non-90-degree ones are 97,6 and 82,4 degrees. So those above are pre...

Hi Janne - many thanks for the case profile dimensions... Apologies if this is already available somewhere, but do you happen to have blank black-and-white templates of the front panel? You have a marked-up image on the calibration section of your website, but I was thinking a high-quality blank ve...

If it has visible legs, a professional stereo optical microscope will get you there. You need to be able to see the tiny f#%#er to be sure it's soldered well.

Janne - received the case today; looks fantastic and has some real "heft" - congratulations again! A couple of points for others and a couple of questions: the bottom screws are T9, and likely should add suitable rubber feet to the BOM. Do you have a template for the wooden cheeks? Also, can you po...

Re: PROGUE - Analog mono synth - Available!

I've done quite a few Progue mainboards with stencils & paste and still it takes 5-6h to populate all the SMTs for the mainboard. The good thing about the stencils&paste technique is that it's relatively easy to populate multiple boards at once. So, it basically takes the exact same time to make 1 o...
