Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Thanks Martin, after all my screwing around in Ableton between CV tools and Silent Way out to the ES-3, i never bothered to check that.

maybe its an EU thing. can't really imagine what sensitive info is being shared in a modular discussion other than the usernames of people participating. i think its a huge resource of knowledge that is going to waste.

i wish they would just record them but they responded that somehow it wouldn't work/fit(?). while i do find their little tips/tricks very useful, its always best to hear them speak at length about some features on their modules (and they don't have much long form content out there). i'll send them a...

Re: Omsonic/dBs Stochastic Inspiration Generator

If you use Ableton and M4L, take a look at K-devices TATAT. only 4 notes, but similar idea: https://k-devices.com/products/tatat/ Nice! Thanks. Well, I suppose they do say 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'... :hmm: ;) to be fair, this device was released in June of 2018, and is in line ...

A plug-in version of this would be an insta-buy for me right now. Definitely watching with interest.

Re: new pc advice

any particular reason why you are tied to your old soundcard? also, you didn't say anything about what you're looking for out of your DAW. are you recording into your soundcard/DAW or fully in the box? do you use a lot of VSTs or instead sample libraries? the specs look fine depending on your use le...

Re: Mannequins "JUST FRIENDS" Manifold Generators

ooooh, thanks Martin for the heads up. the addition of a compressor on the mix output should make it more useful. i don't believe there is a way to check what version you have, but i've always found the update process very smooth so there's no reason not to update to the newest.

Re: Pulsar-23 by Soma

i have no idea how the Soma waitlist works. i put in my pre-order in November of 2019, got a notification that my turn was up two weeks back. paid, waited a week after bank transfer, then it got shipped via DHL and arrive in NYC overnight (no customs fees). FWIW, i also got a normal sized power adap...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

Thanks for the quick turnaround on that video! very interesting. VCMC deals pretty well with the trigger stream. i've never actually tried such dense midi notes within the DAW so nothing to really compare to, possibly the vst not being able to handle super high density either. regardless, looks pret...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

how is the latency when using Flux with VCMC? and does it drop a noticeable amount of triggers? am considering getting a VCMC to control an Elektron Analog Rytm II (since i can't seem to decide on bitbox micro vs assimil8or in the rack). Flux into an ER-301 is fun and all but by no means immediate i...

Re: Resonestor Dub techno chords - anything similar out there?

Radikal Technologies RT-311 Swarm oscillator gets you nice chords with up to 8 notes for some fat stacked chords with second detunable oscillator on its own output. i love it, but it takes up a lot of space.

Re: Audio interfacing conundrum, ES-8+6, ES-3+6 or External Line-in ADAT

I'm running something similar to people above, with a RME Digiface and ES-3 for CV out. In/out over ADAT for audio recording is handled by two Behringer AD8200 (after a 16 channel Soundcraft mixer). routing is super easy with totalmix. Instead of the Focusrite, you could look at the Ferrofish Pulse ...

upgraded to the new firmware. both over RC24 and Midi via USAMO its down to 0-3ms, which is fine and i'll stop obsessing over numbers.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

i have a feeling its a firmware issue and reached out to Jim to get a copy of the version that invisiblewires has. i'll report back when i do some more recordings in ableton to compare to the prior ones i have using USAMO vs RC24 clock via silent way (both of which has 2-7ms of jitter).

Re: Lyra-8 'Organismic' ambient synthesizer

I agree with all of the above. on most days, i wish i somehow had two Lyra-4 rather than one Lyra-8. or somehow a modded Lyra-8 with at least two separate outputs. i mainly just run it through a LPG nowadays rather than shoehorn its drone sound into a piece which it would overtake completely.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

jitter is present on both clocking via RC24 or midi via the jack expander for me (and using an USAMO, not native midi out from a DAW). unfortunately, the notion of timing being "stable" is fairly subjective unless someone has taken the time to record an output and actually look at how "on beat" the ...

Re: Module Recommendations for Clicky Percussion

I use the strike input on Arbhar for this (and account for the latency in ableton unfortunately). perhaps samples fed into a Befaco Percall could get snappy enough for you. if its the placement and sequencing of the clicks that interest you, the new Flux sequencer is a beast for dense triggers for g...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

if using external clock via ES-3, the manual says to set to CR/1 or CR/4 and set CV tools to 1 or 4 PPQN. set the transport out in CV tools to Gate and connect that to the run jack. that will at least get your sequencer going. the issue then becomes how to get the vector to reset along with Ableton....
