Re: Sequencer and quantizer

For purpose, my recommendation would be Qu-bit Octone. 10hp. Ticks a lot of boxes.

How large is too large?
Single channel?
Do you expect gates, too? If so, what sort of gate features are you looking for?

Re: ACL Sinfonion

Do you know when the next batch will be released ? Music store says June 17 but it ha been delayed by 3 months !!! ACL doesn’t tend to monitor this forum. It looks like you’re in Europe— Wigglehunt suggests there are a few units around. My impression is that ACL makes things in batches, and probabl...

The e102 would be interesting to try I would think
E102 was/is a cool module, but it’s a shift register, not a gate delay. It has no “sense of time” other than counters. I suspect it would be tricky at best to get it to act much like a gate delay.

Re: SSF PROPAGATE now available - new video 9/3/13

Yes the Malekko looks good. Is it digital? I would think being able to vary the PW on the SSF would lead to interesting results ... not to mention the external input, ooh and global settings. Anything else similar? The Malekko Quad Gate Delay is definitely digital. One advantage of that is that it ...

Do you know if any module could take a CV signal and change it into trigger each time the CV note changing ?
Various quantizers, including the Sinfonion you mentioned, do this.

Re: Logic modules for algorithme generative music

The clock divider can act as a conditional, due to the fact each division needs a specific amount of gates to activate. For example, for /4 output to output a gate, it needs to be triggered 4 times to turn on. This basically means "if I receive 4 triggers, I turn on", eg. a basic if statement, a ty...

Re: Logic modules for algorithme generative music

I dont know if i need just few function and more output or conversely relative of my actual setup. Your actual setup and your goals are always important, but reaching your goal may involve some detours and you may wind up somewhere else, instead. Compare2 isn't more for audio rate ? Logic and compa...

Re: Starthief's Eurorack adventure, 2016-???

It will be interesting to see what you think of the the HO. I had one for a while, also purchased mainly on curiosity. Mine immediately required service because one of the CV features (tilt, spread or width… I forget which) was borked by a misbehaving part. (At the time, all that required was for me...

I have the Logica Gater, Logica XT and Compare 2. All are excellent modules at what they do. There are many other threads here that discuss generative tools and techniques.

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

Which do you find yourself using/enjoying more for beat creation? While Metron has a sprawling feature set, at its core, it is very simple and immediate in x0x fashion. That grid of buttons is there for a reason. You can turn on a dime. Flux is parametric, and requires a somewhat more deliberate pr...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

Yeah, Precarious pretty much sums it up. There’s a TON of stuff Metron can do that Flux cannot (and vice versa), because they are designed from wildly different directions. How they work is even more important a distinction. If you‘re at all considering Metron, you really MUST slog through *all* of ...

Re: Best sequential switch?

Intellijel's Shifty is worth mentioning too. Gives you the option to use it as a Shift Register as well. This made me scratch my head, so I went back to my Shifty to try to figure out what you meant. In TRK mode, I guess you can route a signal to 2, 3, or 4 outputs in four orders, but (1) it only w...

Just going to leave this tip here, because I’ve squandered quite a bit of time sorting it out, forgetting, and then sorting it out again, and I suspect it will be helpful to somebody: If you’re trying to clock Vector using the CR/4 or CR/1 modes, it’s important to keep in mind that Vector really wan...

You’re in MacGyver-land, so the answer will depend very much on what tools you have access to. But Option B is looking good to me. It’ll take some tweaking, but might work.

I’m wondering when we will see a Voltera update? There are so many missing functionalities I think are important for the playability of notes. Things like recording of notes from an external keyboard like a keystep into voltera, so musicians can fluidly play notes without having to turn a knob to l...

Re: In Rack Sequencers That Are As Feature Rich As The Keystep Pro?

Most of the “battleship” Eurorack sequencers are arguably more feature-rich than the Keystep Pro, but features are ultimately less important than workflow, and none of the Eurorack sequencers will have the Keystep Pro’s workflow. For better or worse. It’s all very personal.

Of course nobody has Kermit or WT-QUAD. Too bad Xaoc didn't do more with the expanders. I’m sure a new batch of Kermit Mk3s will come along, and the WT-QUAD isn’t shipping yet, but it’ll be available sooner or later. Everything is a compromise. If I could redesign Batumi, I would definitely elimina...

Re: What's your favourite Low Pass gate?

Part of the problem with these sorts of comparisons, is that I think the sound varies a lot between different modules from the same company because of vactrols. This is very true. Which is another possible point in favor of novel LPG designs that eschew vactrols for decay envelope generators, such ...

I’ve always done well with my Optomix v1, too, which just works. My Takaab has a different flavor—it’s not suitabl...

Batumi is an interesting case. It’s a successful product, but from the get-go, people have wished it was different in various ways. All these alternate firmware modifications have tried to address those desires, but there’s just not enough physical interface there to support additional features exce...
