Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Yeah, the LP integration dramatically extends the physical interface of the Vector. I’m sure we all have aspects of it we use more than others. For me, the pattern switching features are by far the most important. I’m quite happy with the Mini Mk3. I haven’t much interest in using it to “play” into ...

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

Does someone know if there is a way to make cycle mode for channels lock pitch on each trigger, like you can do with the zone using the "gate^" (gate rise) setting? I am trying to find a way to make rings-like paraphony work with my assimil8or playing piano samples (using zones to avoid repitching ...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

How does one get the beta firmware releases? At the time of the deep dive video, the firmware wasn’t at “beta”—it was still “alpha” (feature incomplete). If you’re interested in testing alpha-grade firmware (not for the faint at heart), I would contact Jim and volunteer (he may demur for various go...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Yeah, Free Gate looks nice. Does internally—conveniently—something I’m already accustomed to doing through patching. The ARP “recording” mode is interesting and surprising. I was mostly seeing requests for ratchet-based arps, which is an interesting type of feature, but opens some serious cans of wo...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Wow. Thanks for the great breakdown. Everything you wrote makes sense, and basically confirms my suspicions about each of these sequencers. The thing that you said that is making me lean towards the vector was the part about it being able to take a simple sequence, and make it interesting. I love c...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

I know they’re totally different, but to those of you that have owned Rene, or an ER-101, why do you prefer the Vector over those (assuming you do)? I’m trying to decide between these three. I’ve owned all three. Still have Rene and Vector. Rene (both versions are quite distinct from each other, de...

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

I believe the Channel and Menu buttons should have a very slight, identical wiggle to them, and should turn ever so slightly—maybe 1º. That would be normal—how this style of part is designed—and you see it on various other modules that use the same part. If your Menu button is floppy compared to the...

Re: Has the chip shortage hit Eurorack?

Would I be wrong if I write that there were always problems with purchasing Mannequins / Whimsical Raps modules, much earlier than the supply crisis in the parts market? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they probably always put out small series and you had to wait for the next ones. They typically do a...

Re: Pittsburgh Modular Structure EP-420 "Review"

Just be aware that rails vary in tolerances, and you may need to spend some time with a metal file, filing down the strips until they actually fit. I converted two EP-420s and had to file eight of the twelve strips. A friend converted to EP-360s, and I think he had to file down four of the strips. I...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

But I wonder if I can't just do the same with the clock modulators (dividers, multipliers, trigger delays, LFOs) I have anyway. Maybe I throw in a Euclidean sequencer as well like the Dot or Euclidean Circles for extra polyrhytmic fun. You can do some of the things that Flux can with those tools, b...

Re: FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer

I was just studying up on the Buchla 252e, which has been mentioned before on this thread. The interfaces couldn’t be much more different, but functionally, the overlap with Flux sure is extensive. While Flux goes super deep on many features, and has this comprehensive mod matrix with far more real-...

Thanks for the info. I'll check the link. Just watched a Maths video/tutorial on YouTube that talked about end of rise and end of cycle. Guess I don't have that on mine.
You should have the EOR and EOC outputs (the two outside jacks on the bottom row), you just don’t have the LED indicators.

Re: good envelope for pads?

Yeah, quite likely you’re missing the nuances of an ADSR. I made a video about it. Having the additional decay stage to a variable level sustain stage can add a lot, particularly when you’re also animating a filter cutoff. AR/ASR envelopes are essential for so much modular patching, but they produce...

I have messaged both Industrial and ACL to see if and when they are making Kermit IIs or WT-QUAD. the WT-QUAD is missing from most dealers sites now and is not on the official list of modules on ACL's site anymore. I wouldn’t read too much into the availability situation. Nearly everyone is getting...

Re: Knobula Poly Cinematic (8 voice polysynth module)

I think it’s interesting how MIDI is creeping into Eurorack modular. The first big splash was perhaps when 1010music’s popular Bitbox arrived, and suddenly folks were opting to send it MIDI from other Eurorack sequencers, rather than using patch cables—it even had the advantage of velocity support o...

Re: Patching a sequenced burst generator

I’ll add that, when it comes to patch programming, if you want a specific result, you have to define that result correctly and completely, and then work backwards from it’s requirements. If you try to go the other direction—head toward a vaguely defined result—you will probably explore many dead end...

Re: Patching a sequenced burst generator

The devil is in the details, which will profoundly affect the number and kind of modules you need to jigger a solution. One rudimentary approach is to have one EG in cycle mode, with some CV source varying the decay/release, and a second, triggered EG simply determining the duration of the “burst” b...
