Re: Post pics of your euro setup!

I connect the ground from each PCB to the rails, using wires with screw hole lugs. I also have banana jacks connected to ground on each of my bus boards, so that I can have a common ground between my Serge panels and other stuff. I use a Power One HCC15-3-a supply (yeah it's totally overkill), which...

Re: Post pics of your euro setup!

Thanks! It was a fun project. I had to expand the holes on most of those panels, so they could accommodate banana sockets. I used a stepped drill bit for that. The Elby panel for the Matrix Mixer didn't need to be modified. In fact that was pretty much the easiest module to convert. The 4HP modules ...

I recently finished bananafying some of my DIY euro modules, to make them easier to use with my Serge panels and Lorre-Mill stuff.

Wow, that's really a shame. Sorry to hear so many folks are having trouble. Hope Arjan's doing okay.

Re: Did you switch from Euro completely to 4u? Do you regret it?

Kinda? I sold a little less than half of my eurorack modules to fund a pair of STS shop panels and I'm in the process of converting a bunch of DIY euro modules to banana jacks. I'm finding that I'm more likely to explore and try things than I was with my euro stuff... I love how easy it is to test d...

Re: What new booty did you buy?

BOOTY :sb:  Congrats! Probably one of my favorite/most used purchases of the last few years. I got the Dante expander for it, so it gives me 32 channels of I/O on my Dante network. I just end up using the analog I/O on the unit itself as like an extra audio interface. The plug-in editor is s...

Re: selectbus-setup / busboard connection between 2 cases

I did this without any issues. Nothing special, I just made a cable which connected the CV/Gate pins from a header on one bus board to a header on a different bus board. Of course I left the +/-12V and +5V pins unconnected. Worked like a charm.

Re: MDLR Cases! worth it ?

They are making cases to order. Took a little less than a month to get my 14Ux126HP case, from when I ordered in May. Send Arjan an e-mail. I found him to be very responsive when he was he was putting my case together.

Re: The 2021 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

I'm converting some my euro modules to banana sockets. I just finished my dual 258j and Toppobrillo 281. https://www.3amnoise.net/euro_pics/258_281_bananas.jpg https://www.3amnoise.net/euro_pics/258j_bananas.jpg https://www.3amnoise.net/euro_pics/281_bananas.jpg I used a stepped bit and a hand held ...

Re: Recommend your weirdest craziest FX machine ever

Without a doubt, H9000. Not just for it's algorithms but also for the way it can integrate with other gear. I use it as part of my Dante network, so it has 32 digital ins/outs to my DAW and then I use the analog I/O to create effects chains and feedback loops with other effect units. So for example,...

Re: Post pics of your euro setup!

Beauty shot of the setup in an unusual place yesterday : Great shot! Did you grab an impulse response of the hanger/warehouse? I used to record sometimes, in a warehouse owned by my parent's business, with speakers on one end of the building and mics on the other end. It was such a neat, eerie vibe!

Re: Post pics of your euro setup!

Thanks! Yes, that's a custom MDLR - it's basically the same as their 18U Portable (not really portable - it's a tank haha). I asked for two 1U rows and an obscene amount of overkill power so it turned into a custom order. Good cases and quiet boards - they are super heavy though! :sb: I just transf...

Re: Modules and techniques to modify sequences

I made this video with u-he's CVilization: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehjfadzyhRQ Five12s Vector can do a lot of this kind of stuff and when I had one, I frequently used my Hermod to modify sequences, with it's FX section. I also love using a clocked random generator to modulate the rotate inpu...

Re: What would you require from S&H?

I frequently use sample and hold with sequencers, so that the voltage only changes on steps with active gates. Sometimes the gate occurs like, when the CV sequencer is transiting from one voltage to another and so the sequence ends up sounding wrong. In these cases I use a gate delay to make sure th...

Re: Glorious DI Box

I love my JDI Duplex. Sounds really nice. I can also highly recommend the ProRMP for sending balanced signals into pedals and amps. I'm a big fan of the EXTCs for re-amping and as pedal interfaces, too. Not passive and a little more spendy, though. I have my Prophet 6 connected to a Phoenix NiceDI a...

Re: A warning for those thinking about buying a patchbay...

However, I plug my mics straight into the patchbay and some folks suggested the tt connections are more reliable plus I don't think you can pass 48v through a ¼" bay. Different studios have opposite opinions on mic signals in patchbays. Some places, usually those that use their console preamps, put...

Re: line 6 dl4 legacy

The DL4 was great when it came out, there wasn't much like it. I had an FM-4 and a DL-4 at the time. Used them on my keyboard rig live but felt they were too noisy for the studio. Years later I got an Echo Pro on the cheap and I use that all the time. Tempo sync, MIDI control of parameters and balan...
