Re: Updated SSI2130 VCO Datasheet available...

I did some further tests. I use +/-15V (39mA on +15V & 27mA on -15V) (note I have schottky diodes strung between the power rails as standard) Using a bench supply I could break the negative side & get it to reliably stall on startup - it always worked fine when breaking the positive side supply, and...

Re: 2130 VCO (finally a larger VCO!)

You've always wanted a multiple comparator ;) And I've *still* not done one ;( Worth noting the powers onboard the SSI2130 chip - it has multiple wave outputs AND an onboard waveform mixer. I did wonder about implementing that & maybe will do another design sometime, but for now the onboard mixer is...

Re: Updated SSI2130 VCO Datasheet available...

I've also had some lockups - generally when manually plugging in power from an already-on rack (via power cable). I'd also wondered if others had found it happening.. I can easily start things up by switching range (my design has a Lo range with 1u cap). But will try again powering up the whole rack...

Re: 2130 VCO (finally a larger VCO!)

Yeah, I hear you - given my sort of layout approaches I'd initially thought on PW(M) but then felt that wave-mod was more interesting..
Possibly could have squeezed something in, but wanted to keep it spacious & relatively simple.
It absolutely is possible on-board with the chip.

Re: Behringer LM Drum

I seem to remember watching a local auction house sale a few years back, selling off old Tears for Fears equipment, and a number of interesting (but possibly dead) bits went for quite high prices - sure someone at the time suggested it was the (dreaded) B buying up things to get going on their cloni...

The confusion might be calling it min-max rather than peak & trough - there's also a CGS drawing of the same posted above.

Re: 2130 VCO (finally a larger VCO!)

2 V/Oct inputs? Also, any clocking jumpers/pads on the back, or was that something specific to the circuit / chip on the Chirper? The thinking with the two 1V/Oct inputs (well, other than right panel feel) was that sometimes you might want a regular source from, say, a keyboard/seq but then also an...

That's lovely to hear.
It feels like quite an old design to me, even if the circuitry was updated a chunk quite recently.
Thanks!

I just ordered a Coco2 from PP (having waited too long and missed Peter’s cutoff and not paying the US price). They are also associated with Bugbrand, a wholly reputable operation - the stuff I’ve bought from Tom has reached me (in Alaska!) from Bristol in 2 to 3 days via FedEx (even during the pan...

Any reason one shouldn't change the value of Rlin 500k in Fig.18 (the Thru-zero circuitry)? Halving it to 250k (ie. whack another 500k on top) sounds good & extends the range considerably. (I couldn't see anything obvious in the datasheet) [Proto panel - couple of minor changes in the production] IM...

Re: Updated SSI2130 VCO Datasheet available...

Damn, how good are solder stencils? Something of a revelation! I wanted to do one final prototype of my 2130 VCO before production and, having struggled with hand-soldering the QFN before, I thought I'd try a stencil (literally an extra $10). Not only did it work almost perfectly with little effort ...

I wonder what happened to the old Yamaha DDs I 'did' years ago.. they were always pretty cruddy machines but good for bend chaos.

Curious how long ago you got your QA400?
ie. vague lifespan of their products - was it a cold-hard end of development & on to the new version or were updates continued (or even some backwards compatability)?

It was quoted late 2020 that:
The ADC in the QA402 has been replaced with an PCM4220 from TI and the DAC has been replaced with the PCM1794A.

Do you think something like Euclidian Circles could work? I don't think things are particularly fussy - I reckon I used a 606 for the above but equally have used modular and/or other drum machines. Thumbsup; [btw Juno6 never had the fun factor for me like the JX3P but all seems a bit of a distant m...

the jx3p has a fool proof polyphonic step-sequencer that can be triggered
Exactly - trigger it with a trigger sequencer, not just a regular clock stream.

For the PG200 - search out something like the DT200 clone from DTronics etc.
A JX3P (or MKS30) without a controller is plain sad.

I was going to add, kind of something alluded to by SoySos, the figure you've estimated might need extending with cabling & general infrastructure -especially given your (correct) stance of focusing on the quality of the core parts (just remember quality of ALL core parts). Have you already got qual...
