Re: Trying to remember pretty obscure software

I just came across this: https://github.com/awwbees/BespokeSynth ... GFKsPkMK2g

It appears to have come out after the time frame you're referring to, but I figured I'd post it as it seems interesting and it's recently been resurrected.

Thank you, peripatitis!

The events are triggered via algorithm. The counting buffers and dividers at the bottom of the screen are being used to trigger the events in combination with the amplitude envelopes of the thunder objects themselves.

Procedural Audio

Greetings, I've been getting more and more into procedural audio techniques. I own Andy Farnell's Designing Sound book, but I'm trying to take the realism a step further (no slight at Andy, btw - his methods have been extremely helpful). Additionally, while procedural sound seems to be used most oft...

I have a few thoughts on this: One of them is cost, even with payware modules it seems you get a lot more options in VCV Rack compared to what you have to spend to obtain Live and Max-for-Live. Second is expansion into hardware. VCV Rack is a great way for those who might be interested in hardware m...

In Audacity:

1) Import all of your audio files.
2) Select all files, then go to Tracks>Align Tracks>Align End To End.
3) Make sure all tracks are still selected, then go to Tracks>Mix and Render.
4) Export audio as WAV.

Generative Soundscapes Broadcast

Greetings, I have a project that I'm currently working on which features generative soundscapes. The first few broadcasts were/are to test the whole process, with the ultimate goal of running an automated broadcast 12+ hours per day, everyday. At that point, artists will be welcome to sample the str...

k brown! wow, thank you for these. i've DL'd a few of these and after even just a preliminary run through, i can see them being very useful. they seem to work well in my host and the sound is very good (i'm a stickler for functionality more than emulation). i greatly appreciate all of the work you'v...

@givemeasine: Thank you!!! @mixthe76: Yes, it is Analog Box. I've gotten so used to abbreviating it. There supposedly is now a version that works on Mac, but you would have the check the Analog Box Google group for the details on that one. Tbh, I don't see why these same concepts couldn't be used in...

Thank you, mixthe76. I am using a software synth (ABox 2.42). It's an old program, but I'm so used to working with it that it's still my "go to" for most projects. I am using the zero-crossing method to initially estimate the frequency - I am then scaling and quantizing the notes before I send them ...

www.patchblocks.com although not specifically geared towards noise, it's very easy to create some interesting noise patches for them and they're quite portable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrWZ_rkzsXI this is the first patch i made for the first run of Patchblocks. it's not available on the site...

https://www.soundcloud.com/imhul Almost all of my work involves field recordings in some form or another. They are admittedly collage-esque(?). In all cases, I use characteristics of the recording to control synthesized parts, be they granular effects or something even more esoteric. Sinus Lake I is...

Thank you. I would say it's in the way I've put it together. There is quite a bit of reverb, saturation and filter modulation happening. I'm not too experienced with Max, but I've heard some nice "warm" sounds out of it. In fact, I have a friend who has done some great Eno-esque generative music wit...

Flora and Fauna

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ79BJw2JTU Something I initially did for fun, but am quickly realizing the possibilities for performance. I'm posting this here because the concept I use can be implemented in any modular synthesizer software that accepts audio input, and has decent math capabilities...

goetic dream (live performance)

https://soundcloud.com/imhul/goetic-dream from a live performance at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia (soon to be no more). All done with a software patch in Analog Box 2 containing a pad synth, multiple granulizers, a multi-fx section and field recordings. it's noisy, and quite possibly annoying....

I've been working on alternate methods for controlling sound that don't involve touch screen devices. Here is my version of a theremin using an FM radio (tuned to blank station) and modular synth software. Any software with math capabilities ...

Thanks!! I'm using a rather old piece of software called Analog Box 2. It's been made open source now although the developer still makes revisions from time-to-time. In fact, he recently updated it to 2.42 (interesting). I think there might be a MAC port of the software as well, not sure about that ...

Two free releases from IMHUL

Graceless Exhibition is a much less forgiving whirlwind of screaches atop of crunchy digit...
