Re: Mutable Instruments Stages

Not sure if it was discussed here already, but today I realized you can patch a shift register on Stages using step segments. You just need one segment per shift stage, they all receive the same clock as gates inputs, the first one gets the original sequence as a cv input, and the next ones get the...

Re: ACL Sinfonion

Sinfonion requires a reset at start or else it will play the second step upon receiving the first clock pulse. I find it aggravating but have learned to work around it. I’d be absolutely interested in hearing your workarounds lol. Generally I just send a reset at start if I’m using the chord sequen...

Re: The Official Eurorack Deals Discussion Thread

Working code for Detroit modular? LOCKDOWN10 Hasn’t stopped working in over a year. Nope. Tried that. And BUNNY10, mom10 etc. Multiple times. Maybe there’s now exceptions to what is and isn’t discounted? Never encountered that before with Detroit. You can troubleshoot this by adding something else ...

Re: Favorite VCA for modulating modulators

In a typical VCA when you modulator goes negative your signal is 0v (barring any offset) for the duration that the modulator is negative. If that is the result you want then a standard VCA is ideal. That’s a valid option but it’s nice to be able to do what a bipolar VCA can do for you also. With a ...

Re: Modules with scale quantization: please let us decide, not you

My music theory isn’t great, but don’t forget that you can derive many more scales from these three: Major, Melodic Minor, Harmonic Minor, by using a different scale degree as your tonic. Personally I’m fond of the Dorian mode but if a quantizer doesn’t provide it I can get it the hard way by using ...

Re: New WMD Performance Mixer

Picked up the PM DB25 expander recently (patiently awaiting its arrival), but feel a little cheated that the second connector only uses 4 of its 8 possible channels. Wondering if anybody else out there has hacked something together to take advantage of the missing channels? Would be great to have t...

Re: Audio Damage ADM23 Eos Stereo Studio Reverb

In my case yes I was able to return it, and did. It did have a nice sound otherwise but in my case I was annoyed by the noise (other users don’t mind apparently so your mileage may vary) and even more annoyed by Chris Randall not delivering on promises made that a fix was coming. He did address othe...

It sounds like you are looking for a filter to play an electric bass through, if so I’d highly recommend the Iron Ether Xerograph pedal, if they are still being made.

Re: Xaoc Zadar, Quadruple Envelope Generator + Nin expander

Does the Zadar have a lot of issues with transients? If I trigger the envelope repeatedly very quickly I hear a clicking sound. Increasing the attack doesn't seem to help. Does retriggering the envelope cause it to reset to 0v? You might be hearing the squaring off of the tail rather than whatever ...

With respect to Vector, is LP Mini (as opposed to other LPs) enough for data entry and pattern and scene switching?
The Pro and X transmit velocity to the Vector, otherwise any current model functions the same with respect to the Vector.

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

My own Launchpad observation, I’ve tried both the pro and the mini with the Vector and I prefer the mini for the more button-like response of the pads, it requires more intention to change the state of a pad, with the pro any touch no matter how light seems to get picked up, which might be good for ...

Re: Mutable Instruments Plaits

Whoever can tell you whatever, but Plaits modes can be easily and precisely sequenced up and down with Voltage Block. I do it all of the time. Set Plaits to Algo 1. Send 0v = Algo 1, Send 5v = Algo 16, and everything/anything in between, up and down. It's not that hard I just tried this looking at ...

Re: Mutable Instruments Plaits

Perhaps positive voltage increments through the whole range and negative voltage decrements through it, this would satisfy both the stated +/- 5v input and the fact that you can sweep through the entire range with a unipolar voltage.

Re: Distortion Modules - 100 Grit or Miasma?

It can do multimode filtering too (HP, BP, notch, LP). These aren't clean, and there's no resonance control, but they've got a lot of character. I actually think the filter sounds of Angle Grinder are pretty clean, or at least very musical, unless you have the sliders up, and you can use damping as...
